The Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID) has announced the schedule and details for the SEED 2026 entrance exam, a crucial step for students aiming for a Bachelor of Design (B.Des) degree. Aspirants are advised to stay informed about the key aspects of the exam and admission process.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the SEED 2026 exam, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Educational Qualification: You must have passed Class 12 (10+2) from any stream, including Science, Commerce, or Arts, from a recognized board. Alternatively, you can have a 10+3 diploma approved by the State Board of Technical Education.
- Minimum Marks: A minimum of 50% aggregate marks is required in the qualifying examination. A relaxation is available for Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates, who need a minimum of 45% marks.
- Appearing Candidates: Students who are appearing for their final year 10+2 or 10+3 diploma exams are also eligible to apply, provided they submit their final results by June of the admission year.
- Age Limit: There is no prescribed age limit for the SEED exam, making it accessible to a wide range of students.
Exam Pattern and Structure
The SEED 2026 will be an online proctored exam, designed to assess a candidate’s creative aptitude and design skills.
- Mode: The exam is conducted online, allowing you to take it from your own PC or laptop.
- Duration: The test has a duration of 60 minutes.
- Questions: There will be a total of 60 objective questions. The question format can include Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), fill-in-the-blanks, image-based questions, and comprehension-based questions.
- Syllabus: The exam evaluates various skills, including:
- Visual Sensitivity and Judgement
- Observational, Perceptual, and Reasoning abilities
- Creative and Problem-Solving abilities
- Application of basic knowledge of Science and Mathematics
- Awareness of Art, Craft, Culture, Design, and Environment
- Marking Scheme: Each correct answer will be awarded one mark. Importantly, there is no negative marking for incorrect answers.
Admission and Selection Process
The final admission to the B.Des program at SID is based on a multi-stage selection process, not just the written exam.
- Stage 1: SEED Written Exam: Candidates must first appear for the SEED entrance exam.
- Stage 2: Shortlisting: Based on the SEED exam results, a shortlist of candidates will be announced for the subsequent rounds.
- Stage 3: Portfolio Review (PR) and Personal Interaction (PI): Shortlisted candidates must participate in an online Portfolio Review and a Personal Interaction (PRPI) round. During this stage, candidates are required to upload a digital portfolio showcasing their work. The final merit list is prepared based on the cumulative performance in all three stages: the SEED exam, the Portfolio Review, and the Personal Interaction.
