Jharkhand Council of Medical Registration Closes FMG Internship Applications: A Critical Update for Domicile Medical Aspirants
The Jharkhand Council of Medical Registration (JCMR) has reached the final hours of its application window for Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) seeking mandatory internship placements within the state

The Jharkhand Council of Medical Registration (JCMR) has reached the final hours of its application window for Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) seeking mandatory internship placements within the state. As per the official notification, the application portal closed on October 14, 2025, at 5:30 PM, marking the cut-off for aspiring doctors to register for internships under the Competency Based Rotatory Medical Internship (CRMI) Regulation 2021. This announcement is particularly significant for medical stream aspirants of the state, as these crucial internships determine an FMG’s ability to practice in India.
Strict Domicile Requirement and Limited Seat Matrix
The JCMR has set a stringent eligibility criterion for this round of internship allotment: seats will be exclusively allocated to candidates who hold a Jharkhand domicile status. Applicants must provide valid proof, such as a passport or a residential certificate issued by the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO), to substantiate their claim of being a resident of the state.
Furthermore, the number of available internship slots is highly limited, intensifying the competition among eligible FMGs. According to the notified seat matrix, the internship slots are concentrated in two institutions: LCMH Bishrampur, Palamu, with 08 seats, and MMCH Palamu, with 02 seats. This low availability highlights the importance of securing a high rank on the merit list and meticulously following all application instructions.
Merit Determination and Post-Allotment Formalities
The selection process is entirely merit-based. The council will prepare the merit list primarily based on the candidates' scores in the National Board of Examinations (NBE) Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) Screening Test. In the event of a tie between two or more candidates, the tie-breaking rule will favour the aspirant with higher aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) obtained at the 10+2 level (or equivalent examination).
Upon successful submission of the online application and the stipulated Rs 1000 application fee, candidates are mandated to visit the JCMR office for a physical document verification round. This step requires presenting all original documents, along with xerox copies and a duly executed affidavit, ensuring transparency and authenticity in the admission process.
Critical Deadlines and Stipend Clarification
For selected candidates, the timeline for joining the internship is non-negotiable. Aspirants must join the allotted internship seat within 20 days from the date the final merit list is published. Failing to report within this strict window will result in the automatic cancellation of the seat allotment. Moreover, the council has stipulated a clear policy: once an internship seat is allotted, it cannot be transferred or withdrawn under any circumstance. Candidates who choose to withdraw after allotment will also forfeit their application fee.
Regarding the financial aspect, the JCMR notice clarifies the stipend for FMG interns will be fixed and paid directly by the respective allotted medical college or institution. The Jharkhand State Medical Council explicitly states that it will not be liable for the payment or fixation of the stipend amount, urging aspirants to confirm these details with the institutions.
Medical aspirants are strongly advised to check the JCMR official website frequently for the publication of the merit list and any further notices.
