Punjab NEET UG 2025 counselling is currently on hold, awaiting the All India Quota (AIQ) seat allotment results. Meanwhile, the fee for the NRI quota has been fixed at $110,000. This article details the reasons for the delay, the new fee structure for NRI candidates, and the provisional allotment that was published earlier.

The Punjab NEET UG 2025 counselling, a critical process for thousands of medical aspirants in the state, is currently on hold. Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), the counselling authority, announced that the Round 1 seat allotment for the 85% state quota seats will be declared only after the All India Quota (AIQ) results are published by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). This strategic delay is to prevent any discrepancies and ensure that the state-level admissions align perfectly with the national counselling schedule. A provisional MBBS and BDS seat allotment list for the state quota seats was already published on August 6, but the final allotment and subsequent admission process are contingent on the MCC's final results.

While the counselling process awaits the national results, the BFUHS has released a significant update regarding the fee structure for NRI candidates. The total MBBS fee for the NRI quota has been set at $110,000, payable in either a lump sum or three installments. For BDS admissions, the fee has been fixed at $44,000. A total of 78 NRI candidates have been found eligible to participate in the counselling, and they must adhere to this new fee structure. This information is crucial for all international aspiring students seeking to pursue their medical education in Punjab. For regular updates, remember to follow Only Education News.

Key Details on the NRI Quota Fee Structure

The newly announced fee structure provides clarity for NRI candidates and their families.

  • MBBS Fee: $110,000 (total for the entire course)
  • BDS Fee: $44,000 (total for the entire course)

The fee can be paid in installments, offering some financial flexibility to students. The first installment for MBBS is $60,000, followed by two installments of $25,000 each. For BDS, the first installment is $22,000, followed by two installments of $11,000 each.

The Importance of Waiting for AIQ Results

The decision to put the counselling on hold is a standard procedure to ensure fairness and prevent a large number of vacant seats. Many candidates participate in both AIQ and state counselling. By waiting for the AIQ results, the state authority ensures that students who secure a seat in a national college through the MCC can choose to do so, thus freeing up their seat in the state quota for another deserving candidate. This process optimizes seat allocation and minimizes last-minute confusion.
