The Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET), Odisha, has announced a revised schedule for the NEET PG 2025 Round 2 state quota counselling. In a significant update for postgraduate medical aspirants, the window for fresh choice filling and locking has been extended, now allowing candidates to submit their preferences until December 20, 2025.

This extension comes as a relief to many candidates, providing additional time to strategically evaluate the available seat matrix across MD, MS, and DNB courses. The DMET has clarified that all candidates included in the Odisha State Merit List are eligible for this round, regardless of their status in Round 1, ensuring a fair opportunity for seat upgradation or fresh allotment.

Key Timeline and Choice Filling Essentials

With the revised schedule in effect, candidates must log in to the official portal (dmetodisha.in) to exercise their options. It is important to note that any choices filled during Round 1 are now null and void; fresh choice filling is mandatory for Round 2.

  • Choice Filling & Locking Window: Open from December 18 to December 20, 2025 (up to 11:59 PM).
  • Seat Allotment Result: Expected to be published on December 22, 2025.
  • Allotment Letter Download: Available from December 23, 2025.
  • Reporting for Admission: Scheduled for December 23, 24, and 25, 2025.

Crucial Instructions for Candidates:

  1. Mandatory Locking: Candidates must lock their choices after filling them. If a candidate fails to lock their preferences, the system will not consider their application for allotment.
  2. Eligibility: This round is open to non-allotted candidates, those seeking an upgrade, and those who resigned from their Round 1 seats during the specific resignation window (Dec 16–18).
  3. Venue for Reporting: Unlike the online choice filling, the admission process (reporting) will be held physically at the Old Auditorium, SCB Medical College, Cuttack.

Required Documents for Reporting

Candidates who secure an allotment in Round 2 must appear at the designated venue with original documents for verification.

  • NEET PG Documents: Admit Card, Scorecard/Rank Letter, and the Round 2 Allotment Letter.
  • Academic Proofs: * MBBS Degree/Provisional Certificate.
    • All Professional MBBS Mark Sheets.
    • Internship Completion Certificate.
  • Registration & Identity: * Permanent or Provisional Medical Registration Certificate (NMC/State Council).
    • Odisha Domicile/Nativity Certificate.
    • Valid Photo ID (Aadhaar/PAN/Voter ID).
  • Others: Category/Caste Certificate (if applicable), Service Certificate (for in-service candidates), and the Fee Payment Receipt.

Looking Ahead: Post-Round 2 Dynamics

Following the completion of Round 2 reporting on December 25, the DMET will assess the remaining vacancies. These unfilled seats will be moved to the Mop-Up Round (Round 3).
