The National Testing Agency (NTA) concluded the final application correction window for JEE Main 2026 Session 1 on December 2, 2025, at 11:50 PM. With all applications now locked, the NTA has shifted focus to the crucial back-end process of exam city intimation and the generation of admit cards for the entrance exam scheduled between January 21 and 30, 2026.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) officially closed the correction window for the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2026 Session 1 application forms on the night of December 2, 2025. This dedicated two-day phase (December 1 to 2) was the last administrative opportunity for the lakhs of registered candidates to rectify permissible errors—such as category, academic details, or exam city preferences—before the data is finalised for examination logistics.

The closure of the edit phase is a significant procedural milestone, officially concluding the application process for Session 1. The NTA will now focus its resources on mapping candidates to centres, determining the examination dates and shifts, and preparing the mandatory documents for exam day.

I. Transition to Examination Operations: Key Dates

With the final application data now locked, the NTA's primary focus shifts to the following sequence of events leading up to the Session 1 exam in January 2026:

ActivityCurrent Tentative DateSignificance
Final Application CorrectionConcluded: Dec 2, 2025 (11:50 PM)All application data is now frozen and final.
Announcement of the City of ExamFirst Week of January 2026Candidates will be notified of the examination city (not the centre) via the City Intimation Slip.
Admit Card ReleaseThird Week of January 2026 (3-4 Days Before Exam)The Hall Ticket, containing the exact centre name, address, and exam shift, will be issued online.
JEE Main Session 1 Exam DatesJanuary 21 to 30, 2026The final schedule for the B.E./B.Tech. and B.Arch./B.Planning examination.

II. The Role of City Intimation Slip vs. Admit Card

Aspirants must clearly distinguish between the two key pre-exam documents being prepared by the NTA:

  • City Intimation Slip (First Week of Jan):
    • Purpose: Primarily for candidates to know their allotted exam city and exam date well in advance to facilitate necessary travel arrangements.
    • Information: Contains the Candidate’s Name, Application Number, Exam Date, and the Name of the Allotted City.
    • Limitation: It is not the official Admit Card and cannot be used for entry into the exam hall.
  • Admit Card (3-4 Days Before Exam):
    • Purpose: The mandatory document for exam day entry and identity verification.
    • Information: Contains the Candidate’s Roll Number, Exam Date, Shift Time, and the Exact Exam Centre Name and Full Address.

Crucial Note: Candidates must download the revised Confirmation Page if they made any changes during the correction window. The data on this final confirmation page is what the NTA will use for all subsequent processes.

III. Final Preparations and Non-Editable Fields

Candidates who did not utilize the correction window, or whose details were locked, must now focus completely on their academic preparation.

  • Non-Editable Fields: For security and administrative reasons, the NTA permanently seals certain details upon initial registration, which could not be changed even during the correction window. These include the Mobile Number, Email Address, Permanent/Correspondence Addresses, and the Candidate's Photograph.
  • Focus Shift: With the administrative burden lifted, the last few weeks must be dedicated solely to revision, solving NTA Mock Tests, and practising Previous Year Question Papers (PYQs) to acclimatize to the Computer-Based Test (CBT) environment.
  • Contact NTA: In the rare event a candidate has a critical, uncorrected discrepancy (e.g., incorrect Category, which affects ranking) that could not be rectified, they must immediately contact the NTA Helpdesk using the email or helpline number provided on the official portal.

All registered candidates must keep checking the official JEE Main website, jeemain.nta.nic.in, for the release of the City Intimation Slip in early January, followed by the Admit Card download link shortly before their scheduled examination date.
