NEET UG Seat Matrix Released for Rajasthan; Two New Colleges Await Final Approval
Rajasthan's NEET UG 2025 seat matrix is out, but 200 MBBS seats from new colleges in Jaisalmer and Tonk are pending NMC approval. Check counselling dates and seat details.

The NEET UG Medical and Dental Admission/Counselling Board of Rajasthan has officially released the provisional seat matrix for the first round of state-level counselling for MBBS and BDS admissions. The detailed matrix, available on the official website, outlines the seat distribution across government and private medical colleges in the state for the 2025-26 academic session.
A key development noted in the seat matrix is the absence of two proposed new government medical colleges in Jaisalmer and Tonk. The state government is actively pursuing final approval for these institutions from the National Medical Commission (NMC). With both colleges' infrastructure reported to be ready, there remains a strong possibility that their respective 100 MBBS seats each could be added to the seat matrix in a subsequent round, provided the NMC grants its permission.
Breakdown of Seats and the Admission Process:
As per the released matrix, Rajasthan offers approximately 5,418 MBBS seats and 1,342 BDS seats for admissions this year. The counselling process for these seats is conducted by the state-level board based on the merit ranks of candidates who have qualified in the NEET UG 2025 examination.
The total seats are primarily divided into two categories:
- 15% All India Quota (AIQ): Managed by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), these seats are open to all eligible candidates from across India.
- 85% State Quota: These seats are allocated through the state's counselling process and are reserved for candidates with Rajasthan domicile.
The provisional seat matrix is a critical tool for aspirants to strategically fill their choices of colleges and courses. The official counselling portal's online application submission window began on July 28 and is scheduled to close today. Candidates are advised to carefully review the seat matrix before finalizing their choices.
Uncertainty Over New Colleges:
The exclusion of Jaisalmer and Tonk Medical Colleges from the initial seat matrix adds a layer of uncertainty for aspirants. The state government is hopeful that the NMC will give a green light, which would add 200 new MBBS seats to the total pool. If approved in time, these seats would likely be included in Round 2 of the state counselling. However, if the approval is delayed beyond the final admission dates, these seats may not be available for the current academic year.
Aspirants are strongly advised to keep a close watch on official announcements from the Rajasthan NEET UG Admission Board and the NMC for any updates regarding these two colleges. For now, candidates should proceed with their choice filling based on the currently available seats.
