NEET 2025: MCC Adds 2,720 New MBBS Seats for Round 2 Counselling
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has issued a notice for the addition of 2,720 new MBBS seats, as approved by the NMC, for the second round of NEET UG 2025 counselling.

In a major relief for medical aspirants, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has issued an important notice regarding the addition of a significant number of MBBS seats for the ongoing NEET UG 2025 counselling. As per the latest update from the National Medical Commission (NMC), a total of 2,720 newly recognised or increased MBBS seats have been approved in medical colleges across the country.
The MCC has directed all participating institutes to promptly contribute these new seats to the intramcc official portal for the second round of counselling. This step is designed to ensure that all eligible seats are available to candidates, thereby increasing their chances of securing admission to their preferred colleges.
Important Directives for Colleges
The notice also serves as a warning to colleges, stating that any excess seats submitted that do not match the official NMC matrix are likely to be cancelled. The MCC has made it clear that any complications arising from such actions will be the sole responsibility of the concerned institute. Additionally, newly established government medical colleges are required to contribute 15% of their seats under the All India Quota, while deemed universities must contribute 100% of their seats, as per the directives of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India.
This substantial increase in seats is expected to have a positive impact on the cut-off ranks for Round 2 and subsequent counselling rounds. Aspirants are advised to regularly check the official MCC website for updates and to review the updated seat matrix before making their final choice preferences.
