The registration window for the Manipal MET 2025 BTech spot round closes today, August 4. This article provides a guide for eligible candidates, detailing the registration process, required documents, and what to expect during the final on-campus counselling.

Today marks a decisive day for thousands of engineering aspirants who appeared for the Manipal Entrance Test (MET) 2025. The registration window for the BTech spot round admissions at Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) and its constituent campuses, including the prestigious Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), is closing today, August 4, 2025. This spot round is the last and final opportunity to secure a seat in the BTech programs, as it is conducted to fill the few remaining vacant seats after the conclusion of all regular counselling rounds.

The spot round is a direct and competitive admission process. Unlike the earlier online counselling rounds where candidates could float or slide their choices, this round is based on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to a candidate’s MET rank and the availability of seats. Therefore, all aspirants who have yet to secure a seat are strongly advised to complete their registrations online before the deadline. The official time for the closure of the registration window is usually late in the evening, but waiting until the last minute is a risky move given the high demand for seats at MAHE.

Eligibility and Registration Process

The spot round is specifically for candidates who have a valid MET 2025 rank but have not been allotted a seat in the previous rounds of counselling. It is also open to candidates who were allotted a seat but did not accept it. The basic eligibility criteria remain the same as the regular admission process: candidates must have passed the 10+2 or equivalent examination with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Mathematics, and one optional subject.

The online registration process for the spot round is streamlined and easy to follow:

  1. Visit the Official MAHE Admissions Portal: Candidates must go to the official admissions website of Manipal Academy of Higher Education at manipal.edu/mu/admission.
  2. Locate the Spot Round Link: On the homepage, there will be a specific link for "BTech Spot Round 2025." Candidates should click on this link to start the registration process.
  3. Fill in the Application Form: The form will require candidates to enter their MET 2025 application number, personal details, academic qualifications, and their preferred choice of campus and branch. This is the only chance to specify their final preferences.
  4. Pay the Registration Fee: A non-refundable registration fee is required to confirm the application for the spot round. This fee must be paid online via credit card, debit card, or net banking.

What to Expect After Registration Closes

Following the closure of the online registration window, the next and final step is the physical counselling and reporting at the campus. The schedule for this on-campus counselling session will be released shortly after the registration period ends. The physical counselling will be conducted on a specific date, and candidates will be called based on their MET 2025 ranks.

During the physical counselling, seats will be allotted to eligible candidates as per the availability and their rank. If a candidate is offered a seat, they must accept it immediately by paying the full first-year fees on the spot. The payment of the fees is mandatory to secure the admission. It is crucial for candidates to be financially prepared for this step, as failure to do so will result in the seat being offered to the next candidate on the merit list.

Essential Documents for Physical Counselling

Candidates who are participating in the spot round must be prepared with the following documents in original, along with one set of self-attested photocopies, for verification during the physical counselling:

  • Manipal MET 2025 Admit Card
  • Manipal MET 2025 Rank Card
  • Class 10th and 12th Mark Sheets and Passing Certificates
  • Proof of Date of Birth (Aadhar card, Passport, or Birth certificate)
  • Character Certificate from the last institution attended
  • Transfer/Migration Certificate
  • Six passport-size colored photographs
  • Fee Payment proof (for the first-year fees)
  • Any other documents as specified in the counselling brochure

The spot round is a high-stakes, last-ditch effort for many to secure a coveted seat at a top-tier engineering institution like Manipal. The window of opportunity is narrow, and the process is unforgiving. Aspirants who are serious about joining MAHE are strongly urged to complete their registration today to stand a chance in the final phase of admissions.
