The National Testing Agency (NTA) is currently facilitating the online application process for the second session of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026. Following the commencement of the registration period on February 1, the portal remains active for candidates who wish to improve their scores or for those who did not participate in the January session. The NTA has confirmed that the window for submitting the application form will close on February 25, 2026, at 9:00 PM, providing a final opportunity for aspirants to register for the April examination cycle.

Registration Guidelines and Eligibility for Session-2

The 2026 admission cycle allows students to appear for two sessions of the JEE Main to maximize their performance. For the upcoming April session, the NTA has simplified the process for students who already appeared in the first session. These candidates are not required to fill out a fresh application form but must log in using their existing credentials to select their preferred medium, paper type, and examination cities. However, new candidates who are applying for the first time in the 2026 cycle must complete the full registration, including the generation of a new application number.

  • Academic Eligibility: Candidates who passed their Class 12 or equivalent in 2024 or 2025, or those appearing in 2026, are eligible to apply.
  • Course Selection: Aspirants can choose between Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech), Paper 2A (B.Arch), and Paper 2B (B.Planning) depending on their career goals.
  • Authentication Process: The NTA has integrated Aadhaar-based authentication to streamline the verification process and maintain the integrity of the national-level test.

Schedule and Examination Logistics for April

The JEE Main 2026 Session-2 is scheduled to be conducted between April 2 and April 9, 2026. This session is particularly critical as the NTA will use the best of the two scores for the final All India Rank (AIR) calculation. Candidates are advised to select their examination cities carefully, as the agency typically assigns centers based on the permanent and present addresses provided during the registration phase. The admit cards for this session are expected to be available for download approximately three days before the commencement of the exam.

  • Examination Mode: The test will be conducted in a Computer Based Test (CBT) format, with the exception of the drawing part in B.Arch.
  • Session Timing: The examination will be held in two shifts—the first shift from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and the second shift from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
  • City Intimation: The advance intimation of the examination city is expected to be released in the third week of March to assist students with travel planning.

Fee Payment and Final Submission Protocols

The completion of the application process is contingent upon the successful payment of the examination fee. The NTA has set the final deadline for fee payment as February 25, 2026, up to 11:50 PM. It is essential for candidates to download and print the "Confirmation Page" after the transaction is processed, as this serves as proof of successful registration. The agency has issued a strict warning against the submission of multiple application forms by a single candidate, which can lead to disqualification under unfair means policies.

  • Payment Modes: Candidates can pay the fee using online methods including Net Banking, Credit Card, Debit Card, or UPI.
  • Information Correction: While the NTA may provide a brief correction window in early March, candidates are urged to verify all entries, particularly the category and state code of eligibility, before final submission.
  • Official Communication: All updates regarding the April session will be communicated through the official NTA website, and candidates should monitor their registered mobile numbers for alerts.

Conclusion

The JEE Main 2026 Session-2 registration window provides a vital pathway for engineering aspirants to finalize their candidacy for the April examinations. With the February 25 deadline approaching, candidates must ensure that their application and fee payment are completed within the stipulated timeline to avoid technical delays. As the National Testing Agency prepares for the national-level evaluation in April, students should focus on utilizing this registration period to confirm their examination preferences and documentation for a smooth testing experience.
