NTA has released the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 city intimation slip. Candidates can now check their allotted exam city and dates on the official NTA portal.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially activated the download link for the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Advance City Intimation Slip. Engineering aspirants who successfully registered for the January session can now access the official portal to check their allotted examination cities. While the city slip was expected shortly after the new year, its release has now provided much-needed clarity for over 14 lakh students who will be appearing for the computer-based test starting later this month.

Logistics and Planning for the January Session

The city intimation slip is a preliminary document that allows candidates to finalize their travel and accommodation plans. It is important to note that this is not the admit card; the slip only provides the name of the city and the specific date of the examination. The NTA has scheduled the Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech) exams between January 21 and January 29, while Paper 2 (B.Arch/B.Planning) will be conducted in a single shift on January 30.

By releasing the city details well in advance, the NTA aims to assist students coming from rural areas or different states. For the 2026 session, the agency has increased the number of test centers to ensure better social distancing and logistical management. Candidates are advised to log in using their application number and date of birth to view their specific details. If a candidate finds any discrepancy in the city mentioned on their slip compared to their preferred choices, they should immediately contact the NTA helpdesk.

  • Exam Dates: January 21, 22, 23, 24, 28, and 29 (Paper 1); January 30 (Paper 2).
  • Information Provided: Allotted city and specific exam date.
  • Portal Credentials: Application Number and Password/Date of Birth.
  • Next Major Event: Release of the formal admit card.

Comparison Between City Slip and Admit Card

Many students often confuse the advance intimation slip with the final hall ticket. To maintain security and prevent malpractice, the NTA follows a two-step release process. The current city intimation slip only serves as a logistical guide, whereas the hall ticket contains sensitive information like the exact venue address and shift timings.

Conclusion

As the January session draws closer, the release of the city intimation slips marks the beginning of the final countdown for JEE aspirants. With the examination dates now confirmed and the city locations revealed, candidates can shift their focus entirely to their final revision cycles. The NTA is expected to issue the formal admit card by the second week of January, which will be the final document required for entry into the testing centers. Students are encouraged to keep a printed copy of their slip for travel purposes but must remember that the hall ticket remains the primary identity document for the 2026-28 admission cycle.
