The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong has officially released its admission criteria for the 2026-28 Post Graduate Programme (PGP) batch, maintaining its emphasis on a holistic evaluation of a candidate's profile. The selection process will be conducted in two phases: shortlisting for the Personal Interview (PI) and the final merit-based selection. For regular updates on management entrance exams and college admissions, follow Only Education News.
Phase 1: Shortlisting for Personal Interview
To be considered for the PI, aspirants must meet the minimum sectional and overall percentile cut-offs in the CAT 2025 examination. The required sectional cut-offs for the various categories are:
Category | VARC | DILR | QA |
---|---|---|---|
General & EWS | 75 | 75 | 75 |
NC-OBC | 60 | 60 | 60 |
SC | 60 | 60 | 60 |
ST & PwD | 50 | 50 | 50 |
Candidates who clear these cut-offs will then be ranked based on a composite score. This score will give a significant 65% weightage to the CAT 2025 total percentile and 35% to the Normalized Application Rating Score (NARS). The NARS is calculated based on academic performance in Class 10 and 12, as well as work experience.
Phase 2: Final Selection
The final merit list for admission is prepared after the PI process. The final composite score is calculated with the following weightage:
Component | Weightage (%) |
---|---|
CAT Score | 40 |
Personal Interview (PI) | 40 |
Academic Profile (Class 10 & 12) | 10 |
Gender Diversity | 10 |
The institute awards diversity points to encourage a more inclusive student body. The Personal Interview (PI) is a crucial component, holding a substantial 40% weight, demonstrating the institute's belief that communication and interpersonal skills are vital for future business leaders.
The final admission offers are extended based on the rank of the candidate's overall score.
