The Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) 2026 application window is nearing its close, with the final deadline for submitting the online application form set for November 17, 2025 (up to 11:50 PM). This is a critical announcement for all management stream aspirants—recent graduates and current final-year students—who wish to gain admission to over 1,300 AICTE-approved MBA/PGDM colleges across India for the 2026-27 academic session.
The official portal for registration, maintained by the National Testing Agency (NTA), is cmat.nta.nic.in.
Key Deadlines and Payment Information
Aspirants must ensure they complete the entire process in two distinct steps within the stipulated timeframes:
- Online Application Submission: The registration and form filling must be completed by November 17, 2025.
- Examination Fee Payment: The final step, which validates the application, is the payment of the fee. The payment facility will remain active until November 18, 2025 (up to 11:50 PM).
Candidates are strongly advised to not wait for the final day, as payment failures or website congestion due to high traffic are common and can lead to the rejection of their application. Only those applications where the fee transaction is successful will be considered fully registered.
Eligibility and Examination Structure
CMAT 2026 is an inclusive exam with simple eligibility criteria:
- Educational Qualification: The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
- Final Year Students: Students currently in the final year of their undergraduate degree are fully eligible to apply, provided they furnish proof of passing the examination before the commencement of the admission process for the academic year 2026-27.
- Age Limit: There is no upper age restriction for appearing in the CMAT.
The CMAT 2026 exam is a Computer-Based Test (CBT) expected to be held in January 2026 (tentatively January 24th or 25th). The test duration is 3 hours (180 minutes) and comprises 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) spread across five mandatory sections:
- Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation
- Logical Reasoning
- Language Comprehension
- General Awareness
- Innovation & Entrepreneurship
Each correct answer fetches 4 marks, while 1 mark is deducted for every incorrect response (negative marking).
Post-Registration Opportunity: Correction Window
For candidates who have already submitted their applications but need to correct minor errors, the NTA is expected to open a short Application Correction Window tentatively from November 20 to November 22, 2025. This window allows changes to be made to select details like educational qualifications, category, and test city preferences. However, critical details such as the candidate's name, parent's names, date of birth, and email ID are typically not editable. Therefore, absolute accuracy during the primary registration is paramount.
Securing a high percentile in CMAT is essential for shortlisting by top B-schools, which typically follow up with Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds. Aspirants are encouraged to utilize this last application opportunity and focus intensely on preparation in the remaining time.
