The Bihar DCECE Mop-Up counselling for polytechnic and diploma courses is now open. This article provides the full schedule, eligibility details, and strategic advice for aspirants, with a final choice-filling deadline of August 8.

NLP Concept Illustration

The Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (BCECEB) has officially commenced the mop-up round of counselling for the Diploma Certificate Entrance Competitive Examination (DCECE) 2025. This round is a final, critical opportunity for thousands of polytechnic aspirants to secure a seat in engineering, para-medical, and para-medical dental courses across various government and private colleges in the state. The process began with the online willingness-cum-choice filling and will conclude with the final seat allotment and admissions. The deadline to submit the online choices for this round is August 8, 2025.

The mop-up round is particularly important as it is designed to fill the seats that remained vacant after the first two regular rounds of counselling. It is open to a broad spectrum of candidates, including those who did not get a seat in the previous rounds, those who did not participate at all, and even those who were allotted a seat but did not join the college. This phase provides a chance for aspirants who are looking for an upgrade in their preferred branch or college, or for those who simply want to secure any available seat.

Crucial Dates and The Mop-Up Process

The BCECEB has published a detailed schedule for the mop-up round on its official website, bceceboard.bihar.gov.in. Candidates must adhere to this timeline to ensure their participation.

  • Online Willingness-cum-Choice Filling: The process began on August 4, 2025, and will close on August 8, 2025.
  • Provisional Seat Allotment Result: The seat allotment result for this round is scheduled to be released on August 14, 2025.
  • Downloading of Allotment Order: Candidates who are allotted a seat can download their allotment order from August 14 to 17, 2025.
  • Document Verification and Admission: This will be a final, in-person process that will take place on August 16 and 17, 2025, at the designated reporting centers.

Aspirants need to fill in their choices of colleges and branches on the official online portal in the order of their preference. To lock their choices, candidates will have to authenticate using an OTP sent to their registered mobile number and email ID. This step is mandatory to ensure the choices are registered successfully.

Vacant Seats and Strategic Choice Filling

The BCECEB has already published the seat matrix for the mop-up round, detailing the number of vacant seats available across different colleges and branches. According to the available data after the second round, a significant number of seats are still open, providing hope for many aspirants. The highest number of vacancies are generally seen in private institutions and in some of the newer government polytechnic colleges.

Candidates are strongly advised to fill as many choices as possible to increase their probability of getting an allotment. With the competition being particularly high for popular branches like Computer Science and Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering, candidates should strategically include a mix of popular and less-demanded branches in their choice list.

The Final Opportunity

The Bihar DCECE Mop-Up round is a last-ditch effort to fill all available seats before the new academic session begins. For many, this round is the final pathway to a diploma course in a polytechnic college. The BCECEB has made it clear that after this round, there will be no further official state-level counselling. Any remaining seats will be filled through spot admissions conducted by the individual colleges themselves, a process which can be less structured and more unpredictable.

Therefore, all eligible and interested candidates are urged to complete their choice filling and locking process before the August 8 deadline. It is a vital step towards securing their future in technical and para-medical education, and for many, a decisive moment in their academic journey.
