NOU Admission 2026: Nalanda Open University Extends July Session Registration Deadline to September 21

Nalanda Open University (NOU) has extended the registration deadline for admission to its July 2026 academic session. Eligible candidates can now apply until September 21, 2026, for programmes offered through the university's open and distance-learning system. The admission process is being conducted online. Candidates should complete their applications through the university's designated admission portal and check the eligibility requirements for their selected programme before submitting the form.

NOU Admission 2026: Key Details

NOU's official website currently lists the July 2026 admission process and identifies July 10, 2026 as the admission opening date. Its homepage, however, still displays August 31 as the closing date, so candidates should rely on the latest admission notice/portal status before submitting an application.

NOU July 2026 Admission: Courses and Eligibility

Nalanda Open University offers programmes at undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma and certificate levels. The exact eligibility requirement depends on the programme selected.

Common programme categories include:

• Undergraduate: BA, B.Com, B.Sc, BCA and library-related programmes
• Postgraduate: MA, M.Com, M.Sc, MCA, MJMC and MLIS
• Diploma and certificate programmes: Eligibility varies according to the individual programme

Candidates should check the programme-specific eligibility conditions on the official admission portal rather than assuming that the same qualification applies to every course.

How to Apply for NOU Admission 2026

Candidates can follow these general steps to complete the online application:

1. Visit the official Nalanda Open University website.
2. Open the admission section for the July 2026 session.
3. Access the online admission portal.
4. Register using the required contact details.
5. Log in and select the programme.
6. Enter personal and academic information carefully.
7. Upload the required documents in the prescribed format.
8. Pay the applicable admission fee.
9. Submit the completed application.
10. Download and save the submitted application and payment confirmation.

Candidates should ensure that their name, date of birth, academic details and other information match their supporting documents before final submission.

What Candidates Should Do Before September 21?

Applicants should not wait until the final day to complete the process. Before submitting the form, candidates should:

• Check the eligibility criteria for the selected programme.
• Keep academic certificates and other required documents ready.
• Verify the programme name and study mode.
• Check the applicable fee before payment.
• Review the completed application for errors.
• Save the final application and payment receipt.

Verify UGC-DEB Recognition Before Admission

Students choosing an open and distance-learning programme should verify the recognition status applicable to their specific programme and academic session. UGC states that students must confirm the recognition status of the higher educational institution for the session in which they seek admission. Recognition for a previous session does not automatically establish recognition for a subsequent session. Therefore, candidates should check the applicable UGC/Distance Education Bureau information before completing admission.

What Happens After Applying?

After submitting the application, candidates should retain their application and payment records and monitor the official NOU website for further admission-related notifications. The university's official website publishes admission notices and other student updates through its notification sections.

Important Note

The September 21 deadline is reported in recent admission updates, but NOU's homepage currently displays an older August 31, 2026 closing date. Candidates should therefore check the latest official admission notice or live admission portal before relying on the deadline.
