As February draws to a close, the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru, is signaling the final weeks of its NLSAT 2026 application window. The prestigious university, which opened its portal in mid-November, will stop accepting registrations on March 23, 2026. This entrance exam remains the exclusive pathway for graduates from any discipline seeking entry into the 3-Year LL.B. (Hons.) and other select postgraduate law programmes.

Application Requirements and Eligibility

The NLSAT 2026 is open to candidates holding a Bachelor's degree with at least 45% aggregate marks (40% for reserved categories). As the deadline approaches, the university has seen a surge in registrations from final-year students who are eligible to apply provided they meet the criteria by late 2026.

  • The application fee is set at INR 2,500 for the General category and INR 2,000 for SC/ST/OBC-NCL candidates.
  • All submissions must be made online, and candidates are required to upload high-quality scans of their photograph, signature, and category certificates.
  • The NLSAT-PhD application window also shares this March cutoff, with the oral presentations expected to take place in May.

NLSAT 2026 Exam Pattern and Preparation

The NLSAT 2026 entrance test is scheduled for April 26, 2026, and will be conducted in an offline, pen-and-paper mode. The test is divided into Part A (Multiple Choice) and Part B (Subjective), assessing everything from English comprehension to socio-legal analytical writing.

  • Candidates have 150 minutes to complete both sections of the 150-mark test.
  • Part B is particularly rigorous, requiring students to write a structured essay on a current affairs topic, which is only evaluated if they clear the Part A cutoff.
