NIFT 2027 Applications Open: Nov 16 Deadline, Entrance Exam on Jan 10

The National Testing Agency has opened NIFTEE 2027 applications for admission to National Institute of Fashion Technology programmes for the 2027–28 academic session. Online registration began on October 16, 2026, and candidates can submit the application with the applicable regular fee until November 16, 2026. Applications will continue until November 21 with an additional ₹5,000 late fee, according to NTA’s official notification.  The NIFTEE 2027 entrance examination is scheduled for January 10, 2027.

Which NIFT Programmes Are Covered by NIFTEE 2027?

NIFTEE 2027 Stage 1 covers several NIFT admission routes.

For undergraduate admissions, the notice includes:

• B.Des.
• B.F.Tech.

For postgraduate admissions:

• M.Des.
• M.F.M.
• M.F.Tech.

It also covers:

• NIFT Lateral Entry Admissions (NLEA) for B.Des. and B.F.Tech.;
• Artisans Category for B.Des.;
• Ph.D. admissions.

NIFTEE 2027 Application Deadline Is November 16

Candidates applying without a late charge must submit the online form by:

• November 16, 2026.

NTA has not stated a specific clock-time cutoff for November 16 in the October 16 public notice. Candidates should therefore avoid assuming that applications will necessarily remain available until 11:59 PM.

Late Applications Allowed Until November 21

Candidates missing the regular deadline can still submit the NIFTEE 2027 application until:

• November 21, 2026
• with an additional late fee of ₹5,000. 

The ₹5,000 amount is in addition to the applicable application fee. It should not be described as the complete NIFTEE application fee.

How to Apply for NIFTEE 2027

Applications must be submitted online only through the official NTA NIFTEE portal. NTA currently lists separate candidate-activity links for UG/PG, NLEA, Artisans, NRI and Ph.D. application routes. Before starting the form, candidates should first identify the correct programme/category and read the relevant Admissions Guidelines. The October 16 notice says applicants must upload a recent photograph, signature and other applicable documents in the prescribed format and size. Aadhaar-based e-KYC and a live photograph may be required during the process. PwD/PwBD candidates are required to upload a valid UDID card in the prescribed format. 

Check Eligibility Before Applying

NTA specifically instructs candidates to check eligibility requirements including:

• age;
• educational qualifications;
• subject combinations, wherever applicable;
• category-specific criteria. 

Eligibility differs by programme, so candidates should not apply based solely on a general NIFT eligibility summary from an unofficial website. NIFT currently provides the Admissions Guidelines 2027, NIFTEE 2027 Information Bulletin and Prospectus 2027 on its admissions page. 

NIFTEE 2027 Correction Window

NTA has scheduled the online correction facility from:

• November 22 to November 25, 2026. 

The October 16 public notice does not provide a complete field-by-field list of what can or cannot be edited during this period. Candidates should therefore follow the instructions displayed when the correction facility opens rather than assuming every field will be editable.

NIFTEE 2027 GAT Will Be CBT; CAT Will Be PBT

NTA has announced two examination modes depending on the test component:

• GAT — Computer Based Test (CBT)
• CAT — Pen-and-Paper Based Test (PBT).

Candidates should check their programme’s exact examination pattern in the NIFT Admissions Guidelines 2027 and NIFTEE Information Bulletin because not every candidate necessarily takes the same combination of test components.

NIFTEE Exam Scheduled for January 10

The entrance examination is scheduled for:

• January 10, 2027. 

NTA says NIFTEE 2027 is proposed to be conducted across 100 cities in India through CBT and PBT modes as applicable.  The specific centre, date and shift applicable to a candidate will be mentioned on the admit card.

City Intimation Slip on December 21

The advance city intimation slip is scheduled for December 21, 2026.  Candidates should distinguish this from the admit card. A city-intimation slip generally tells the candidate the allotted examination city; the formal admit card follows separately.

NIFTEE 2027 Admit Card on January 4

NTA has scheduled the downloading of admit cards for:

• January 4, 2027. 

Candidates should verify their:

• name;
• photograph;
• examination centre;
• test date;
• shift;
• reporting instructions

after downloading the admit card.

What Is the Process for Ph.D. Candidates?

Ph.D. admissions follow a separate subsequent selection process. According to NTA, Ph.D. applicants will be required to take a Written Test conducted by NIFT, followed by a Research Proposal Presentation and Interview (RPPI) conducted by NIFT.  Ph.D. candidates should therefore not assume that the general UG/PG testing and selection process applies unchanged to them.

NRI and International Applicants

NTA states that NRI, Foreign National, OCI, PIO and SAARC category applicants may apply according to the norms specified in the NIFT Admissions Guidelines 2027.  The NTA NIFTEE portal currently also displays a separate NIFTEE-2027 Application Form – NRI link. 

When Will the NIFTEE 2027 Result Be Declared?

NTA has not announced the Stage 1 result date yet. The official notice states that the result date will be notified later. Dates for provisional answer keys and recorded responses are also to be announced on the website. Candidates should avoid relying on unofficial result dates until NTA publishes the schedule.

What Should Candidates Do Now?

Candidates planning to apply should:

• determine the correct programme/application category;
• read the NIFT Admissions Guidelines 2027;
• verify eligibility;
• keep photographs, signature and applicable certificates ready;
• submit the form before November 16 where possible;
• retain payment and application confirmation;
• use the November 22–25 correction window if an eligible correction is required;
• monitor NTA/NIFT for subsequent exam updates.

Submitting an application does not by itself guarantee admission. Candidates must satisfy programme eligibility and subsequent selection requirements.
