NIFT 2026 Final Answer Key Not Yet Released; Expected by Mid-March

For thousands of creative students across India, the wait for the official solutions is almost over. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has moved into the final stages of checking the NIFT entrance exam responses. After the successful completion of the written test on February 8, the focus has now shifted to the accuracy of the questions asked. The final answer key is a crucial document because it will be the last and absolute word on which answers are correct. Unlike the first draft, this version cannot be challenged, and it will be used to calculate the final ranks for every candidate who appeared for the General Ability Test (GAT).

Reviewing the Objection Window

The process leading up to this point has been very systematic. After the exam, the NTA released a "provisional" key on February 17 to allow students to see if any mistakes were made by the paper-setters. Students had until February 19 to submit their challenges. During this objection review period, subject experts are looking at every single complaint sent in by the candidates. If a student proved that a question was wrong or had two correct options, the experts will fix it in the final answer key. This ensures that no student loses marks unfairly due to a technical error in the question paper.

• Exam Date: February 8, 2026.
• Provisional Key Release: February 17, 2026.
• Total Cities: The exam was held in 97 cities nationwide.
• Challenge Fee: Students paid ₹200 for every question they challenged.

Calculating Your Score

Once the NTA uploads the final document, students can use the marking scheme to find their "raw score." In the NIFT entrance exam, every correct answer gives you marks, while wrong answers lead to a small deduction. Since the final answer key is expected to be released by the last week of February, students should keep their login credentials ready. This score is vital because it determines if you will be invited for the next big step: the Situation Test for B.Des students or the Personal Interview for Master's students.

Official Portals for Updates

Students are strongly advised to avoid third-party websites that promise "leaked" results. For authentic information, you should only visit the Official NTA NIFTEE Portal or the main NIFT Admission Website. These sites will host the PDF for the GAT solutions and eventually the login link for your scorecard. If you are a B.Des candidate, you can also start looking at the Situation Test Guidelines to understand how to handle materials like clay, wire, and cloth for the second stage of the admission cycle.

What Happens Next?

The admission cycle for 2026 is moving quickly. After the final solutions are out this month, the Stage 1 results are expected to be announced in April 2026. If your name appears on the merit list, you will receive a call letter for the Situation Test. This is a practical exam where you have to build a 3D model in a limited time. Most experts suggest that while you wait for the final answer key, you should spend an hour every day practicing your sketching and model-making skills, as these are harder to master at the last minute.

Conclusion

The journey to joining one of the 19 NIFT campuses is a marathon, not a sprint. The objection review is a sign that the authorities care about fairness. By the end of February, you will have a much clearer picture of where you stand. Keep checking the official websites, stay calm, and start preparing for the creative challenges that lie ahead in the next stage of the NIFT entrance exam. Your dream of becoming a top designer is just a few steps away, starting with the confirmation of your marks this week.
