NEET UG Round 2 Seat Allotment 2026: MCC to Release Final Result Today on mcc.nic.in

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) is set to release the final seat allotment result for NEET UG Round 2 counselling 2026 today, September 11. The result will be published on the official portal, mcc.nic.in, for candidates who registered, filled choices, and were included in the revised provisional allotment released a day earlier, on September 10.

Round 2 covers All India Quota (AIQ) seats, along with admissions to deemed universities, central universities, and institutions such as AIIMS, ESIC and AFMS colleges. Along with the result, MCC has also added new seats to the counselling pool and published a list of candidates whose category has been converted to NRI status for this round.

[VERIFY]: MCC had not specified an exact release time for the final result as of the time of this report — only that it would be issued "today."

Newly Added Seats in Round 2

MCC has added 659 new seats across MBBS, BDS and BSc Nursing programs for Round 2. These additions span government institutions, deemed universities and BSc Nursing colleges in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Delhi, Gujarat, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

• In Arunachal Pradesh, new MBBS seats have been listed at Tomo Riba Institute of Health & Medical Sciences, Naharlagun, across BC, EWS, OPEN, SC and ST categories, including PwD-linked categories.
• In Assam, new MBBS seats have been added at Bongaigaon Medical College under the All India Quota, spanning BC, EWS, OPEN, SC and ST categories.
• Separately, more than 4,000 BDS seats were reported vacant in Tamil Nadu ahead of Round 2, and Tamil Nadu's Directorate of Medical Education (DME) has added a further 250 MBBS seats for the state's own Round 2 process.

This comes on top of a broader revision to the national MBBS seat matrix. According to the source report, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has revised the matrix for the 2026-27 academic year — one reference in the report puts the addition at roughly 1.40 lakh seats across 836 government and private medical colleges nationally, while a related headline cites 13,186 new seats added. [VERIFY]: these two figures were not reconciled in the source and should be confirmed against the NMC/MARB notification before republishing either number.

All-India NEET UG Round 2 Counselling Schedule

For context, MCC's Round 1 counselling for 2026 offered 31,728 seats, of which more than 29,000 were allotted.

Understanding Your Allotment Status

Round 2 allotment PDFs mark each candidate's outcome under one of a few statuses, and the practical next step differs by status:

• Retained — the candidate keeps their Round 1 seat and does not need to do anything different for Round 2 beyond confirming reporting.
• Upgraded — the candidate has moved to a preferred choice higher in their option list; they report at the new institute.
• Fresh allotment — the candidate received a seat for the first time in Round 2 (relevant for those who did not get a seat, or did not participate, in Round 1).
• Not allotted / "did not fill up fresh choices" — candidates whose earlier seat was surrendered or vacated, and who did not lock new choices for Round 2, do not receive a fresh allotment and drop out of this round's allotment.

Candidates whose category or quota has changed within the same institute and course must obtain a fresh, system-generated relieving letter and a new admission letter for the changed seat; MCC has stated that failing to do this can result in cancellation of the allotment due to non-admission.

NRI Candidates: 135-Name List Published

MCC has also released an NRI list for Round 2, provisionally converting the status of 135 candidates from Indian to NRI for the purposes of 2026-27 UG counselling, following document scrutiny by MCC and DGHS. Candidates on this list must carry their original supporting documents at the time of reporting; MCC has warned that failure to produce these can lead to cancellation of the admission.

State-Wise Round 2 Updates

Karnataka: The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) added 100 seats at Government Medical College, Bagalkot, for Round 2. Karnataka's own Round 2 provisional allotment has separately been reported to cover 11,626 MBBS seats. [VERIFY] exact figure against KEA's official release.

What Happens Next: Reporting and Verification

Candidates allotted a seat in Round 2 must report to their allotted institute between September 12 and 18, 2026. MCC will then carry out verification of joined candidates on September 19, 2026. Missing the reporting window, or failing to secure the required fresh admission letter after a category/quota change, can result in the seat being cancelled.

Documents Required at Reporting

While the source report does not list a complete document checklist, candidates are generally required to carry admission-related originals (allotment letter, NEET UG scorecard, identity and category/quota certificates as applicable) at the time of reporting; NRI-category candidates specifically must carry original supporting documents establishing their NRI status. [VERIFY] the full checklist against MCC's official information bulletin before publishing it as a definitive list.
