NEET UG 2026 Fake Notice Alert: MCC Says No Percentile Reduction Has Been Approved

Published 14 Oct 20263 min read5 Views

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has warned candidates that a notice circulating in the public domain about a reduction in the NEET UG 2026 qualifying percentile is fake.
In an official advisory dated October 13, 2026, MCC said that no such percentile-reduction decision has been taken by the competent authority. Candidates should therefore not treat the circulated document as a change to NEET UG 2026 eligibility or counselling rules.
What MCC Has Confirmed
The official advisory confirms three important points:
- A document claiming a reduction in the NEET UG 2026 qualifying percentile is circulating publicly.
- The competent authority has not taken the decision described in that document.
- The circulated notice is fake.
The advisory does not announce a new qualifying cutoff, percentile, score or counselling relaxation. Candidates should continue to follow the eligibility rules and counselling instructions currently published through official channels.
How to Verify a NEET UG Counselling Notice
Candidates should use the following checks before acting on any counselling update:
- Open the MCC website directly at mcc.nic.in.
- Select the UG Medical Counselling section.
- Check the Latest News, Current Events and News & Events sections.
- Open the notice only through the link provided on the official MCC page.
- Match the notice date, reference number and subject with the official listing.
- Do not rely on a screenshot, forwarded PDF or social-media post without confirming it on the MCC website.
MCC has stated that it does not host any website other than mcc.nic.in. It has also advised candidates to beware of fake websites and agents.
Does This Change the NEET UG 2026 Stray-Vacancy Round?
No change to the published counselling schedule is announced in this fake-notice advisory. Candidates participating in the MCC online stray-vacancy round should continue to follow the current registration, payment, choice-filling, allotment and reporting instructions shown on the official MCC portal.
A fake message should not be used to assume that a candidate has newly become eligible. Any genuine change to the qualifying criteria would need to appear through the responsible authority and official counselling channels.
What Candidates Should Do If They Receive the Fake Notice
- Do not forward it as a confirmed update.
- Do not pay an agent or share login credentials based on the message.
- Do not submit personal documents through a link contained in the forwarded notice.
- Save the message or URL if it may help report suspected fraud.
- Verify the claim through mcc.nic.in before taking any counselling action.
MCC says fraudulent websites or agents may be reported to the committee. Candidates should use the contact information published on the official MCC website rather than contact details contained in a forwarded message.
