The MCC has extended the NEET UG 2025 Round 1 choice-filling and locking deadline to 8 AM on August 7. Get the new revised schedule, including seat allotment on August 9 and reporting dates.

In a final and crucial update for thousands of medical aspirants, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has once again revised the schedule for Round 1 of NEET UG 2025 counselling. The choice-filling and locking process, a pivotal step in securing a medical seat, has been extended until 8:00 AM today, August 7, 2025. This last-minute extension provides a few extra hours for candidates to meticulously finalize their preferences for MBBS, BDS, and B.Sc. Nursing seats under the All India Quota (AIQ) and in Deemed Universities.

The multiple revisions to the Round 1 schedule, which has been an ongoing administrative challenge, have been made in response to various requests from candidates. The primary reasons cited by the MCC for these delays include addressing grievances from Non-Resident Indian (NRI) and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) candidates, and the need to accommodate ongoing legal proceedings that have impacted the counselling timeline. This latest extension is a final opportunity to ensure all eligible aspirants can participate in the process without being excluded due to technical or procedural delays.

Revised NEET UG 2025 Round 1 Counselling Schedule

Aspirants must note the updated timeline of events for Round 1. The previous schedule, which had the seat allotment result slated for August 6, has been completely shifted. The new schedule is as follows:

  • Choice Filling and Locking: The window for filling and locking choices is open until 8:00 AM on August 7, 2025. Candidates who have not yet locked their choices will have them automatically locked by the system after this deadline.
  • Seat Processing: The MCC will conduct the seat allotment processing from August 7 to August 8, 2025. This is the period when the system evaluates candidate choices, ranks, and category-wise seat availability to finalize allotments.
  • Result Declaration: The highly anticipated Round 1 seat allotment result will be declared on August 9, 2025. Candidates can view their results on the official MCC website.
  • Reporting to Allotted Colleges: Candidates who are allotted a seat in Round 1 will be required to report to their respective colleges between August 9 and August 18, 2025. It is a mandatory step to secure the seat and either freeze it or opt for a free exit or upgradation in subsequent rounds.

Final Hours to Finalize Your Choices

For candidates who have not yet completed their choice-filling, this is the last chance to do so. It is critical to:

  1. Log In and Review: Log into the official MCC portal using your NEET UG credentials.
  2. Edit Choices: Re-evaluate and rearrange your list of preferred colleges and courses. Aspirants should create a detailed and realistic list, from their most desired options to the ones they would accept. There is no limit to the number of choices that can be filled.
  3. Lock Choices: The choice locking facility is available from 8:00 PM on August 6 until the 8:00 AM deadline on August 7. Once choices are locked, they cannot be changed. If a candidate does not lock their choices, the system will automatically lock them at the deadline.

Aspirants who have already locked their choices cannot make any further changes. Their submitted list will be considered final for the seat allotment process.

Impact on Subsequent Counselling Rounds

The extension of the Round 1 schedule will inevitably impact the timelines for subsequent rounds of counselling. The second round of registrations was originally scheduled to begin on August 12, but this date is now likely to be pushed back. Aspirants should remain vigilant for new announcements from the MCC regarding the revised dates for all remaining rounds.

This latest extension, while causing some anxiety among students, is a step towards ensuring a fair, transparent, and equitable counselling process for all. Aspirants must make the most of these final hours, lock in their choices carefully, and prepare their documents for the reporting phase, which is scheduled to begin this weekend.
