When Will JEE Main 2027 Registration Start?
NTA has not announced a date. The source notes that the JEE Main website was updated on October 24, 2026, and that notices from the 2026 cycle were removed [VERIFY]. Past cycles give a rough guide to timing:
| Exam year | Registration start | Registration last date | Session 1 exam dates |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026 | October 31, 2025 | November 27, 2025 | January 21 to 29, 2026 |
| 2025 | October 28, 2024 | November 22, 2024 | January 22 to 30, 2025 |
| 2024 | November 1, 2023 | December 4, 2023 | January 24 to February 1, 2024 |
| 2023 | December 15, 2022 | January 12, 2023 | January 24 to February 1, 2023 |
| 2022 | March 1, 2022 | April 20, 2022 | June 20 to 29, 2022 |
In the last three cycles, registration opened between October 28 and November 1 and stayed open for roughly four to five weeks. That pattern is not a guarantee for 2027.

What to Do Before the Form Opens
NTA has not released 2027 instructions, so use this time to get ready:
- Check that your name and date of birth match your Class 10 certificate or marksheet.
- Keep identity and category documents accessible.
- Make sure your mobile number and email ID are active.
- Keep a recent photograph and a signature scan ready.
- Decide which paper you will take.
- Think through exam city options by travel time and accessibility.
NTA issued Aadhaar and identity-document guidance last year. Do not assume it carries over to 2027 until NTA publishes the new instructions. Correction rules are also unconfirmed.
How to Apply for JEE Main 2027
The steps below follow the earlier process. Confirm them once NTA opens the portal [VERIFY].
- Go to jeemain.nta.nic.in.
- Click the JEE Main 2027 Session 1 registration link and register as a new candidate.
- Log in with the credentials you created.
- Fill in the application form and upload the required documents.
- Pay the application fee.
- Review and submit before the last date.
Applying involves three stages: registration, form filling, and fee payment. Candidates can apply for Session 1, Session 2, or both. Multiple forms for the same session are rejected [VERIFY].
Documents Likely to Be Required
| Document | Guideline (per the source) |
|---|---|
| Passport-size photograph | Recent, colour or black and white, white background, face clearly visible |
| Signature | Blue or black ink on plain white paper, scanned clearly; capital block letters not accepted |
| PwD/PwBD/UDID certificate | If applicable, issued by a competent medical authority |
| Class 10 certificate or marksheet | If requested, for date of birth and identity verification |
| Non-Aadhaar identity proof | Only if registering with an alternative ID such as a passport or PAN |
Who Can Apply
- Candidates who passed Class 12 or equivalent in 2025 or 2026, or are appearing in 2027, can apply.
- Candidates who passed in 2024 or earlier are not eligible.
- There is no age limit.
- There is no minimum Class 12 mark requirement to appear. Institutes set their own admission criteria.
How Many Attempts Are Allowed?
A candidate can appear in three consecutive years from the year of passing Class 12. With two sessions a year, that means up to six attempts.
- Passed Class 12 in 2027: 2027, 2028 and 2029
- Passed in 2026: 2026, 2027 and 2028
- Passed in 2025: 2025, 2026 and 2027
Three Paper Choices
| Paper | Programme | Source details |
|---|---|---|
| Paper 1 | B.E./B.Tech | Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics; 300 marks; computer-based [VERIFY question types] |
| Paper 2A | B.Arch | 77 questions, 400 marks; drawing section offline [VERIFY] |
| Paper 2B | B.Planning | 100 MCQs, 400 marks [VERIFY] |
Choose the paper that matches the course you want. Read the 2027 notification for rules on applying to more than one paper.
75% Criterion: Admission, Not Eligibility
The 75% rule does not decide whether you can appear. It applies at admission. NITs, IITs, IIITs, and CFTIs admitting through JoSAA/CSAB look for at least 75% in Class 12, or a place in the board's top 20 percentile. The qualifying mark is 65% for SC/ST candidates [VERIFY on JoSAA/CSAB].

What Happens Next
NTA is expected to publish the registration notice and open the application link. Candidates should check both official websites and apply as soon as the window opens. Session 2 registration follows the January session [VERIFY].
