Mumbai: In a relief for engineering aspirants across the country, the Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur has extended the last date to apply for its M.Tech Admission 2026. Candidates now have time until April 21, 2026, instead of the earlier deadline of April 15, to complete their applications.
The decision comes as a welcome move for many students who were unable to finish their applications on time due to academic or technical reasons. With this extension, applicants get a few extra days to carefully fill out the form and avoid last-minute errors.
IIT Jodhpur is offering more than 25 M.Tech programmes for the 2026–27 academic session. These programmes are spread across 13 departments, covering core engineering streams such as Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, and Civil Engineering. In addition, the institute is also focusing on modern and in-demand fields like Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Quantum Technologies, and Environmental & Sustainability Engineering, giving students a wide range of options to choose from.
The extended deadline applies to all categories of admission, including full-time programmes (with and without assistantship), self-sponsored, sponsored, and part-time options. This ensures that both fresh graduates and working professionals can apply based on their eligibility and career goals.
As per the official timeline, the shortlist of candidates will be released on April 25, 2026, and selected candidates will then proceed with the admission process. The new academic session is scheduled to begin in July 2026.
To be eligible, candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science (4-year programme) or a relevant postgraduate degree such as MSc, MCA, or Pharmacy. Applicants should have secured at least 60% marks (55% for reserved categories) or an equivalent CGPA. For full-time programmes offering assistantship or fellowship, a valid **Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering score is generally required, although certain exemptions may apply as per government norms.
Candidates applying under part-time or sponsored categories must also have a minimum of two years of work experience and may be required to appear for a written test or interview conducted by the institute.
The application process is completely online through the official admission portal. Students are required to fill in their personal and academic details, upload necessary documents, and select their preferred programme and category carefully. Since changes are not allowed after submission, candidates are advised to review all details before final submission.
Admissions for GATE-qualified candidates will follow the Common Offer Acceptance Portal 2026 process, ensuring a fair and transparent selection system.
With the deadline now extended, students who have not yet applied should take advantage of this opportunity and complete their applications at the earliest.
