The IIT JAM 2027 application process will begin on September 5, 2026, while the last date to submit the application form is October 12, 2026. The examination will be conducted on February 14, 2027, in two sessions. JAM is conducted for admission to postgraduate programmes such as MSc, Joint MSc-PhD, MSc-PhD Dual Degree and other postgraduate science programmes offered by participating IITs. Around 3,000 seats are available across IITs for the 2027 academic session.

IIT JAM 2027 Application Fee

The application fee depends on the candidate category and the number of test papers chosen. Payment is accepted through online modes only. The fee is non-refundable.

A correction charge of Rs 300 will apply for changes to examination city, test paper, category, gender, or date of birth. Any difference in the application fee will also be charged.

IIT JAM 2027 Test Papers

The exam will be held across seven subject papers. Candidates may appear for one paper or two papers. Those opting for two papers must pick options scheduled in different sessions.

IIT JAM 2027 Exam Pattern

The IIT JAM 2027 examination will be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode. The total duration of the examination will be three hours.

The exam will be conducted in two sessions:

• Session 1: 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM
• Session 2: 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM
• The question paper will include:
• Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs)
• Multiple-Select Questions (MSQs)
• Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions
• Candidates should note that no international test centres will be available for JAM 2027.

IIT JAM 2027 Eligibility Criteria

Graduates and candidates who are currently in the final year of their qualifying degree during the academic year 2027 can appear for IIT JAM 2027. There is no age restriction for appearing in the examination.
