An MTech programme in robotics and artificial intelligence has started at IIT Guwahati from the academic year 2026-27. The admission process has begun. This course is offered by the School of Interdisciplinary Studies and Sustainability at IIT Guwahati and is considered one of the first of its kind in India. Who Can Apply?
Applicants need to have a bachelor’s degree in fields such as electrical, electronics, computer science, mechanical, production, civil, IT, design or any related engineering discipline. Those with a master’s degree in a relevant area are also eligible. To be eligible, applicants must have scored a minimum of 60% in class 12 or a CPI of 6.0 out of 10. The subject mathematics must have been studied up to Class 12. There is no age limit for applying to this programme.
How Are Candidates Selected?
There is no requirement for a GATE score to get admitted into this program. The selection process will be based on a written test or interview conducted by IIT Guwahati.

What are the exit options?
There are different ways to leave the programme, and some of them include academic awards. Depending on how many courses a student completes, they can choose different exit options. Students who finish the core courses will receive the PG Certificate. If they complete both core and elective courses, they can get the PG Diploma. After that, those who continue can earn the degree of Master of Science (Engineering). Finally, students who complete all the courses and successfully finish the capstone project will be awarded the MTech degree.
