For every candidate who filled choices in Gujarat's Round 1 NEET UG counselling, there's one number that matters more than anything else right now — the closing rank at their preferred college.

For every candidate who filled choices in Gujarat's Round 1 NEET UG counselling, there's one number that matters more than anything else right now — the closing rank at their preferred college. The Admission Committee for Professional Undergraduate Medical Educational Courses (ACPUGMEC) has released that data, publishing the Round 1 cutoff on medadmgujarat.org so candidates can gauge their chances before the actual seat allotment result lands.

What "Mopwise" Actually Means

The cutoff comes as a single PDF, published in what's called a "mopwise" format — shorthand for Management, Open, and Payment seat categories. In plain terms, it breaks down the last admitted rank separately for each of these quotas, so instead of one blended number, candidates get a much clearer picture of exactly where the cutoff sat for the specific seat type they're targeting.

Round 1 MBBS Cutoff: Category-Wise Closing Ranks

JD-GQ3,9895801,1751,8041,108

Notice how sharply the numbers spread out between the top colleges and the ones further down the list — that gap alone tells you a lot about demand.

What's Actually Inside the PDF

The document isn't limited to MBBS at a handful of top colleges. It covers the full spread of Round 1 admissions, including:

  • College-wise and course-wise last merit ranks
  • Category breakdowns for General, SC, ST, SEBC, and EWS
  • Sub-quota rows for PwD, NRI, and management seats
  • Separate figures for Open, Payment, and Management quota
  • Data across government, GIA, and self-financed colleges

That's the full pool ACPUGMEC is working with this counselling season, spread across dozens of institutes statewide.

Downloading the Cutoff PDF

  1. Visit medadmgujarat.org.
  2. Open the UG Medical and Dental admission section.
  3. Click on the Round 1 last merit rank notice link.
  4. The mopwise cutoff PDF opens in a new tab.
  5. Use your college code to find the relevant row.
  6. Download and save it for reference.

Making Sense of the Numbers

Reading a mopwise cutoff sheet is simpler than it looks — find the row for your target college, then compare it to your own state merit rank. If your rank is lower than the listed cutoff, that's a good sign. What's worth remembering is just how much these numbers swing between cities: Ahmedabad and Vadodara colleges tend to close at far stronger ranks than institutes elsewhere, and government seats close tighter than self-financed ones almost everywhere.

Round 1 covers a wide spread of institutes — from BJ Medical College Ahmedabad and Medical College Vadodara to SMIMER Surat on the MBBS side, and Government Dental College Ahmedabad along with several private colleges for BDS. Each carries its own closing rank, category by category.

Why Round 1 Numbers Set the Tone

These early cutoffs matter beyond just this round — they become the reference point for the rest of the season. As candidates upgrade in later rounds, closing ranks typically drift further, so Round 1 data is often the most useful benchmark for planning realistic Round 2 preferences.

What Candidates Should Do Now

  • Download the mopwise PDF and note your rank against your target college code.
  • Keep Class 10, Class 12, NEET scorecard, and domicile proof ready in original form.
  • Arrange tuition fees in advance for your likely allotted college.
  • Track medadmgujarat.org closely for the Round 1 seat allotment result and reporting instructions.
