The counseling process will take place at the Gauhati University Institute of Science and Technology (GUIST). Eligible candidates can view the official notice on the admissions portal at admissions.gauhati.ac.in. The counseling is for candidates who applied for BTech programs through the CEE (Assam) 2026 or JEE (Main) 2026 exams. Admission to these programs is offered at GUIST, the technology branch of Gauhati University in Guwahati, Assam. Candidates who have been shortlisted must appear in person on the counseling date with their original documents.

Gauhati University offers BTech admission at GUIST in three engineering disciplines. Lateral entry is available for diploma holders who can enter directly into the second year. All these programs are approved by AICTE and are structured over four years.

4. BTech Lateral Entry (second-year direct admission)

Who Is Eligible to Attend the Counseling?

Only candidates who submitted their online applications within the deadline are eligible. The application window for the CEE and JEE routes closed on July 12, 2026. Candidates must hold a valid rank in either of these entrance exams. Candidates should have passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics or Biology. The minimum aggregate score required is 45 percent for general category candidates and 40 percent for reserved category candidates. A valid Permanent Residence Certificate (PRC) of Assam is also required.

How to attend the BTech counselling on July 24?

Candidates must reach GUIST on July 24, 2026, with all original documents. The counselling process will follow a merit-cum-preference basis, using the CEE Assam and JEE Main ranks. Seats will be allocated according to the candidate’s preference and rank. The full list of required documents for verification is listed below. Candidates should bring two sets of self-attested photocopies of these documents.
