The University of Delhi has made an important change by agreeing to accept GATE scores for admission into its MTech program in Microwave and Communication Engineering starting from the 2026 academic year. This will be the first time the university is using GATE scores for admissions to any of its postgraduate programmes. Previously, the university only used GATE scores for PhD admissions. This new policy was approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The change is expected to make the admission process more efficient and help the university attract students who have strong technical skills and knowledge. Students who have valid GATE scores will be given priority during the admission process.

In addition, candidates must satisfy other eligibility requirements outlined in the admission guidelines.
Admission Procedure
Candidates who have valid GATE scores will be given priority in the preparation of the merit list.
Any remaining vacant seats will be filled by Delhi University (DU) from among the CUET-PG eligible candidates in their respective categories. Merit lists will be prepared by DU based on valid GATE scores separately for each category. DU will use a dedicated online admission portal for the MTech admission program and will not use the CSAS-PG portal for this purpose.
Reason for This Change
According to Haneet Gandhi, Dean of Admissions at Delhi University, the programme already exists, but its admission process has been updated following approval from the AICTE. Admission based on GATE results will align DU's MTech admission procedures with the rest of the country, where admissions to technical postgraduate programmes generally follow a similar process.
