Bihar will begin registration for NEET PG 2026 counselling on 22 October, with the first provisional seat-allotment result scheduled for 4 November. The Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board has issued the PGMAC 2026 notices for postgraduate medical admissions in government and private institutions. The notices, dated 18 October 2026, cover MD, MS and PG Diploma admissions. They also include DNB degree and diploma courses, which candidates should identify separately when comparing their options. For doctors planning to apply, the immediate task is to prepare their application and shortlist. Registration, payment and choice locking have different deadlines; keeping only the last choice-filling date in mind could mean missing entry into the process.
Bihar NEET PG counselling dates
| Activity | Date and time |
|---|---|
| Registration and application-cum-choice filling begin | 22 October 2026 |
| Registration closes | 28 October, 10 pm |
| Application submission, payment and application-data editing close | 28 October, 11:59 pm |
| PGMAC rank card | 30 October |
| Choice filling, editing and locking close | 31 October, 11:59 pm |
| Round 1 provisional allotment | 4 November |
| Allotment-order download | 4–9 November |
| Document verification and admission | 6–9 November |
Put the registration and payment cutoffs in your calendar separately. A sensible personal target is to finish before the final evening, leaving time to resolve an incomplete payment or an application error.
Counselling fee and security deposit
The non-refundable counselling fee is ₹2,200, with processing charges extra. The security deposit depends on the institution options selected:
| Institution options | UR/EWS | SC/ST/EBC/BC |
|---|---|---|
| Government colleges | ₹25,000 | ₹12,500 |
| Private colleges | ₹2,00,000 | ₹2,00,000 |
| Both government and private colleges | ₹2,00,000 | ₹2,00,000 |
The deposit is separate from tuition. Refunds and forfeiture depend on the counselling rules. Before adding private-college choices, make a separate budget covering tuition, hostel, mess, travel and other institutional charges. Ask for the current written fee schedule and identify which payments would be needed immediately after allotment. A college should remain on your list only if joining it is financially workable.
Use AIR to build a realistic shortlist
The board’s process uses NEET PG merit to prepare the state counselling rank. Keep your All India Rank (AIR) and subsequent PGMAC rank clearly labelled in your planning sheet.
The official PGMAC seat matrix provides course and category allocations. Read the relevant course, institution and category together; a college-level total alone is not enough to judge an individual option.
For your own comparison, add columns for specialty preference, hospital exposure, location, fees, stipend and bond obligations. Where information is missing, flag it for enquiry instead of filling the gap with a figure from an older admission cycle.
Do not rely on a fresh Round 2 registration window
The notice says fresh registration will ordinarily not be allowed for Round 2; an exception may be announced if a new institution or branch is added. Candidates intending to participate should therefore take the present registration window seriously.
Read the detailed PGMAC notification alongside the BCECEB website. Save your final application, payment receipt and choices in one folder, and check for amendments before submitting.
A useful shortlist is one you can act on: know which courses you prefer, what each option costs and what you would need to complete admission if allotted. Follow Only Education’s medical news for subsequent counselling updates.
