Who Can Participate
Candidates must have qualified NEET UG 2026, met the applicable cutoff, and satisfied Assam’s admission rules. The rules cited are the Medical Colleges and Dental Colleges of Assam (Regulation of Admission into 1st year MBBS/BDS courses) Rules 2017, amended up to 2026. The notice excludes candidates who have joined a seat up to Round 3, under either All India Quota or State Quota [VERIFY exact wording].
Registered earlier? The official page says candidates who registered earlier do not need to register again. Check your account instead of creating a new registration. assam
Missed registration? Registration closed on 17 October. No extension has been reported. Watch DME Assam’s notices and confirm with the Directorate before assuming you can take part.
Choice Filling Is Not the Same as Choice Locking
Registering and entering college choices are separate steps. Filling ends at 10 PM on 19 October. The locking window runs later that night until 11:59 PM. The later time does not give extra time to add or reorder choices. The notice provides for automatic locking if choices are not locked earlier [VERIFY].
How to Prepare Your Preference List
- Shortlist only the colleges you would actually join.
- Compare course, location, accommodation, travel, and total cost.
- Keep a working list outside the portal. Check every course-and-college pair against what your account displays.
- Do not put BDS above MBBS by accident. Check the order before locking.
- Save your confirmation with your registration details.
MCC Stray Round: Why Dates Overlap
The All India Quota stray round is a separate process run by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). MCC’s revised schedule lists results on 19 October and reporting from 19 to 26 October. These dates fall inside Assam’s window. How an MCC allotment affects participation in Assam’s stray round is not covered in the material I reviewed [VERIFY with DME Assam]. In 2025, DME Assam delayed its stray result until MCC’s was out. Treat 21 October as scheduled, not guaranteed, and check for notices.
What Happens After the Result
DME plans to publish the result with admission instructions. A name on the list still requires the admission steps to be completed. Organise your originals and copies, confirm where to report, and read the allotted college’s joining instructions. Avoid non-refundable travel before the allotment is out.
