AILET 2027 Is Coming Up — Here's What You Need to Have Ready

If law school is on your radar, mark this down: National Law University (NLU) Delhi will open registration for AILET 2027 on August 7, 2026, over at nationallawuniversitydelhi.in. This is the entrance exam that decides who gets into NLU Delhi's 5-Year LLB and LLM programs, so if either of those is on your list, you'll need to fill out the application form once it goes live. Before that date rolls around, though, it's worth spending some time pulling together your documents — nothing derails an application faster than scrambling for a scanned certificate at the last minute.

The Dates You Need to Know

NLU Delhi has already confirmed the exam date and when registration kicks off, even though the full detailed schedule is still to come.

What You'll Need to Upload

Here's the paperwork you should have scanned and ready to go before you sit down to fill the form. Some of these get uploaded directly, others are there just so NLU Delhi can double-check your details:

• Class 10 mark sheet and certificate
• Class 12 mark sheet and certificate
• A recent photograph
• A scanned copy of your signature
• A valid government ID
• Character certificate
• An email ID and phone number you actually check regularly
• Caste/category certificate, if that applies to you
• Passport, if you're a foreign national
• LLB mark sheet and certificate, but only if you're applying for the LLM

One thing worth flagging: the portal will have specific size and format rules for each upload, and mismatched file sizes are one of the most common reasons applications get stuck. Worth checking twice before you hit submit.

Do You Actually Qualify? Here's the Breakdown

Eligibility isn't one-size-fits-all — it shifts a bit depending on which program and category you fall under.

If you're eyeing the 5-Year LLB:

• You need to have passed, or currently be appearing in, Class 12 from a recognized board — any stream works
• General, OBC, and EWS candidates: 45% minimum
• OBC-NCL candidates: 42% minimum
• SC, ST, and PwD candidates: 40% minimum
• Foreign nationals: 65% minimum

If you're applying for the LLM:

• You need a 3-year or 5-year LLB (or an equivalent law degree), completed or in your final year
• General, OBC, and EWS candidates: 50% minimum
• Everyone else: 45% minimum

And here's some good news — there's no upper age limit for either program, so it doesn't matter how long it's been since school; if you meet the marks criteria, you're in the running.

What to Do Between Now and August 7

You've got a decent runway before registration opens, so use it wisely. Scan and organize every document on that checklist now, rather than the night before the deadline. Go back and confirm you actually meet the eligibility bar for whichever program you're targeting — it's a quick check that saves a lot of stress later. And keep an eye on nationallawuniversitydelhi.in, since NLU Delhi is expected to drop the full exam schedule and any extra instructions in the coming weeks.
