The National Law University (NLU) Delhi has officially opened the application window for the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) 2026, a mandatory exam for admission to its undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD programs. The online registration process began on August 7, 2025, and will remain open until November 10, 2025. This announcement is a crucial update for thousands of law aspirants aiming for a seat at one of India's most prestigious law universities. The AILET 2026 exam is scheduled for Sunday, December 14, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
Eligibility, Application Process, and Fees
Candidates must meet the specific eligibility criteria for each program before applying. The entire application process is conducted online through the official NLU Delhi website, nationallawuniversitydelhi.in.
Eligibility Criteria
- For BA.LL.B. (Hons.): Candidates must have passed the 10+2 examination or its equivalent with a minimum of 45% aggregate marks (40% for SC/ST/PwD). There is no upper age limit.
- For LL.M.: Applicants must hold an LL.B. degree or an equivalent with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks (45% for SC/ST/PwD). There is no upper age limit.
- For Ph.D.: Requires a Master's degree in Law with 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwD).
Application Process
The application is a multi-step online process:
- Registration: Register on the official portal using a valid email ID and mobile number.
- Form Filling: Log in and fill out the application form with personal, academic, and contact details.
- Document Upload: Upload a scanned passport-size photograph, signature, and other required documents as per the specified format.
- Fee Payment: Pay the application fee online using a credit card, debit card, or net banking.

- General/OBC/EWS/Foreign Nationals: ₹3,000
- SC/ST/Persons with Disability (PwD): ₹1,000
- SC/ST and Women candidates who are Below Poverty Line (BPL): Exempted from fees.
Exam Pattern and Syllabus
The AILET 2026 exam will be a pen-and-paper-based test conducted offline.
For B.A.LL.B. (Hons.)
- Total Questions: 150 multiple-choice questions
- Total Marks: 150
- Duration: 120 minutes (2 hours)
- Negative Marking: 0.25 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
- Sections: English Language (50 questions), Current Affairs & General Knowledge (30 questions), and Logical Reasoning (70 questions).
For LL.M.
- Total Questions: 100 multiple-choice questions
- Total Marks: 100
- Duration: 120 minutes (2 hours)
- Negative Marking: 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer.
- Sections: All questions will be from different branches of law.
