The Odisha Higher Education Department (HED) has extended the deadline for undergraduate registration. The new last date is June 16 for the 2026-27 academic session. Applications are being processed through the Student Academic Management System (SAMS) portal. The portal can be accessed at degree.samsodisha.gov.in by all eligible candidates. Candidates now have six extra days than the previous cut-off date. The portal will remain open until 11:45 PM on the final day. The extension applies to state public universities and government colleges. It also includes aided, unaided, and government law colleges. The HED wants to start the academic year as planned. The merit list and the start dates for classes have not changed.

How to Apply on the SAMS Portal?

Candidates should use the Common Application Form (CAF). The CAF allows students to select multiple colleges and subjects in one form.

  • Visit the official portal at degree.samsodisha.gov.in.
  • Click on the new student registration link on the homepage.
  • Fill in personal, academic, and contact details accurately.
  • Select your major and minor subjects for the 2026-27 session.
  • Choose your preferred colleges in order of priority.
  • Upload scanned documents and a recent passport-size photo.
  • Pay the application fee online.
  • Submit the CAF and save the confirmation page.

What Has Changed in AEDP Subjects This Cycle?

The HED has made changes to the Apprenticeship Embedded Degree Programme (AEDP) subjects. Some AEDP subjects now have a reduced number of available spots. A few of the AEDP subjects have been changed to non-AEDP options. Students who already filled out the CAF should check their subject choices. Those affected can change their major and minor subjects. The CAF editing period continues until the new deadline.

Action Plan for Candidates

  • Open the SAMS portal before the registration deadline.
  • Compare the revised AEDP list with your previous choices.
  • Update your CAF subject selections where the intake has been changed.
  • Make sure to confirm the fee payment and save the acknowledgement copy.
  • Keep an eye on the SAMS portal for updates on the merit list next week.
