As the admission cycle for undergraduate engineering programs progresses, various state-level counselling processes across the country continue with crucial phases and impending deadlines. For thousands of engineering aspirants who qualified through JEE Main 2025 or their respective state common entrance tests (CETs), this period is vital for securing a seat in colleges within their home states.

These counselling procedures are conducted by the respective State Common Entrance Test Cells or Directorates of Technical Education, governing admissions to 85% of B.E./B.Tech seats in government, government-aided, and private unaided institutions. The processes typically involve online registration, document verification, merit list publication, choice filling, and subsequent seat allotments across multiple rounds.

Ongoing Stages and What Aspirants Should Know:

Different states are currently in varying stages of their admission schedules:

  • Registration and Document Verification: Several states are either concluding their initial registration windows or are in the midst of document verification processes for the first round of counselling. New registration opportunities for subsequent rounds might also be opening up.
  • Merit List Publication: Provisional and final state merit lists, based on candidates' scores and eligibility, are being published or have recently been released, providing candidates with their state-specific ranks.
  • Choice Filling and Locking: Many states are actively engaged in the choice filling and locking phase for their first or second rounds of counselling. This is where candidates submit their preferred colleges and branches in order of priority.
  • Seat Allotment Results: Some states are preparing to release, or have just released, their first or second round seat allotment results. This determines the provisional college and branch allocated to candidates.
  • Reporting and Fee Payment: For candidates who have been allotted seats in earlier rounds, deadlines for online acceptance, fee payment, and physical reporting to the allotted institutes for document verification and admission confirmation are ongoing.

For instance, while Maharashtra is anticipating its MHT CET Round 1 Engineering allotment results tomorrow, and Telangana has its TS EAMCET Round 2 results expected today, other states like Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Karnataka, Kerala, and Gujarat are also managing their own distinct schedules.

Importance of State-Specific Information:

It is paramount for engineering aspirants to refer exclusively to the official websites of their respective state counselling authorities. These portals provide the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding:

  • Exact Dates: Precise deadlines for registration, choice filling, fee payments, and reporting.
  • Detailed Schedules: Comprehensive timelines for all rounds of counselling.
  • Seat Matrix: The updated number of available seats in various colleges and branches.
  • Eligibility Criteria: Specific domicile, academic, and reservation requirements.
  • Rules and Regulations: Instructions for participation, withdrawal, and upgradation.

Examples of official state counselling websites include:

  • Maharashtra: cetcell.mahacet.org or fe2025.mahacet.org
  • Telangana: tgeapcet.nic.in
  • Karnataka: cetonline.karnataka.gov.in
  • Uttar Pradesh: uptac.admissions.nic.in
  • Rajasthan: hte.rajasthan.gov.in (for REAP)
  • Madhya Pradesh: dtec.mp.gov.in
  • West Bengal: wbjeeb.nic.in

Failing to adhere to the stringent deadlines or submitting incomplete/incorrect information can lead to the forfeiture of admission opportunities. Aspirants are strongly advised to regularly monitor their state's official counselling portal and complete all necessary steps diligently to secure their desired engineering seats for the upcoming academic year.
