The online registration for the Symbiosis Law Admission Test (SLAT) 2026 is currently underway for admission to prestigious 5-year law programs (B.A. LL.B. and B.B.A. LL.B.) at Symbiosis Law Schools (SLS) across India. The last date to register is November 30, 2025. SLAT is your essential step towards a legal career at SLS Pune, Noida, Hyderabad, or Nagpur. The exam will be held in two separate tests in December 2025. Ensure you meet the eligibility criteria and complete the application process well before the final deadline.

The application window for the Symbiosis Law Admission Test (SLAT) 2026, the mandatory entrance examination for admission into the esteemed five-year undergraduate law programs at the Symbiosis Law Schools (SLS), is nearing its closure. Conducted by Symbiosis International (Deemed University) (SIU), SLAT is the pivotal entry point for students seeking admission to the B.A. LL.B. and B.B.A. LL.B. courses offered at its four prominent campuses.

The online registration process, which began on August 1, 2025, is set to conclude on Sunday, November 30, 2025. Given the high competition for seats at institutions like SLS Pune (ranked highly among India's law schools), candidates are strongly advised to finalize their application and payment process without delay to avoid last-minute technical glitches. The university is offering the exam in two slots, allowing candidates to select their preferred date and potentially sit for both tests to improve their score.

SLAT 2026: Key Dates and Dual Test Advantage

A distinctive feature of the SLAT entrance exam is the option for candidates to appear for the test on two different dates. This dual-test model offers a significant advantage, as the better of the two scores will be considered for the final merit calculation.

  • Crucial Deadlines for Aspirants:
    • Registration Start Date: August 1, 2025
    • Registration & Fee Payment Deadline: November 30, 2025
    • Admit Card (Test 1) Release: December 11, 2025
    • Admit Card (Test 2) Release: December 18, 2025
    • SLAT 2026 Exam Date - Test 1:December 20, 2025
    • SLAT 2026 Exam Date - Test 2:December 28, 2025
    • SLAT 2026 Result Announcement: January 15, 2026
  • Eligibility Essentials for the 5-Year Programs (B.A./B.B.A. LL.B.):
    • Academic Qualification: The candidate must have passed the Standard XII (10+2) or an equivalent examination from a recognised Board.
    • Minimum Marks: A minimum of 45% marks in aggregate is required for the General category (40% for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates).
    • Age Limit: As per the regulations laid down by the Bar Council of India (BCI), there is no upper age limit for applying to the 5-year law course.

Exam Pattern, Syllabus, and Selection Process

Understanding the structure of the Symbiosis Law Admission Test is vital for effective preparation. The exam is the first crucial step in the overall admission process, which also involves a Personal Interview (PI). Notably, the Writing Ability Test (WAT) component has been discontinued for SLAT 2026.

  • SLAT 2026 Examination Structure:
    • Mode: Computer-Based Test (CBT), conducted online.
    • Duration: 60 minutes (1 hour).
    • Total Questions: 60 Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs).
    • Marking Scheme: +1 mark for every correct answer; there is NO negative marking for incorrect answers, encouraging candidates to attempt all questions.
    • Sections and Weightage: The exam is divided into five sections, each carrying equal weightage (12 questions/12 marks each).
      • Logical Reasoning (12 Questions)
      • Legal Reasoning (12 Questions)
      • Analytical Reasoning (12 Questions)
      • Reading Comprehension (12 Questions)
      • General Knowledge (12 Questions)
  • Final Selection Components:
    • The final merit list for admission is determined by a combination of the SLAT score and performance in the Personal Interview (PI).
    • The SLAT score will be scaled down (typically to 50 marks), while the Personal Interview will carry a weightage of up to 30 marks.
    • Candidates must clear the SLAT exam and then register separately for the PI round for the Symbiosis Law School(s) of their choice.

Participating Symbiosis Law Schools and Application Details

SLAT scores are accepted by the four constituent Symbiosis Law Schools (SLS) under SIU, offering a combined intake of over 1000 seats. Candidates must apply for the SLS college(s) of their interest after registering for SLAT.

  • SLAT Accepting Institutes (SLS Campuses):
    • Symbiosis Law School (SLS), Pune
    • Symbiosis Law School (SLS), Noida
    • Symbiosis Law School (SLS), Hyderabad
    • Symbiosis Law School (SLS), Nagpur
  • Application Fee Structure:
    • SLAT Test Registration Fee: ₹ 2,250/- per test (non-refundable). If a candidate chooses to appear for both Test 1 and Test 2, they must pay this fee once.
    • SLS Programme Registration Fee: An additional ₹ 1,000/- (non-refundable) is required for each individual programme at each specific SLS campus a candidate applies to.
      • Example: Applying for B.A. LL.B. at SLS Pune and B.B.A. LL.B. at SLS Noida requires paying the SLAT fee (₹ 2,250) plus two programme fees (₹ 1,000 \times 2 = ₹ 2,000).

With the registration deadline on November 30, 2025, aspirants must secure their slot for the December exam window now. The dual test option and the clear-cut, MCQ-only exam pattern present a fair opportunity for well-prepared candidates to shine.
