Aspirants seeking to transition into the legal profession must complete their online registration well before the deadline of March 23, 2026. NLSIU maintains inclusive eligibility criteria, allowing graduates from fields such as engineering, humanities, and sciences to pivot into law.

  • Academic Qualification: A Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
  • Minimum Marks: 45% aggregate for General category; 40% for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PWD.
  • Final Year Students: Applicants in their final year can apply, provided they submit proof of completion by December 31, 2026.
  • Required Documents: Scanned copies of 10th/12th marksheets, UG degree or Bonafide certificate, a two-page CV, and a passport-sized photograph.

Understanding the NLSAT Exam Pattern

The NLSAT-LLB is a 150-minute offline test consisting of two distinct sections that evaluate both objective aptitude and subjective reasoning.

  • Part A (75 Marks): Includes MCQs on English Comprehension, Current Affairs, and Critical Reasoning.
  • Part A Marking: A negative marking of -0.25 applies for every incorrect or unanswered question.
  • Part B (75 Marks): Evaluated only for the top performers in Part A (1:5 ratio per seat).
  • Subjective Content: Consists of 5 short-answer legal reasoning questions and one analytical essay.

The NLSAT remains one of the most competitive law entrances in India, with an admission rate of less than 2%. Success requires balancing speed in the objective section with depth in the subjective writing section. Candidates should immediately visit the official NLSIU admissions portal to complete their registration and begin a structured preparation routine to secure their spot.
