Over 20.8 lakh candidates appeared for the NEET UG 2025 examination on May 4, making it one of India’s largest entrance exams. The NEET UG 2025 examination, the largest medical entrance test in the country, was held successfully on May 4, 2025. According to official data, a record-breaking 20.8 lakh candidates appeared for the exam this year, reflecting the growing interest in medical careers among Indian students. The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the exam across hundreds of locations with strict security and smooth coordination. The test is essential for entry into MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other undergraduate medical courses across India.


Massive Turnout and Geographic Spread

The exam was conducted in 4,750 centres across 557 cities, including 14 cities abroad.

Over 20.8 lakh students, including a high number of female aspirants, appeared for the exam.

Cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Patna, Hyderabad, and Lucknow saw heavy attendance with no reported disruptions.

International centres were arranged to accommodate NRIs and OCI candidates pursuing Indian medical education.


Strict Measures Ensured Fair and Smooth Conduct

Authorities implemented rigorous frisking and ID verification at all centres.

Students were prohibited from bringing electronic devices or written material inside the halls.

Adequate medical assistance, water supply, and security were maintained to support candidates.

CCTV surveillance and jammers were deployed in sensitive centres to prevent malpractice.


What’s Next for NEET UG 2025 Candidates

The provisional answer key is expected to be released by mid-May.

Candidates will be allowed to raise objections before the final answer key is published.

NEET UG 2025 results are likely to be announced by the end of May.

Counselling rounds for MBBS and BDS admissions will commence soon after the result declaration.
