The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced the commencement of the NEET-PG 2025 Round 2 counselling registration. This critical round for the 50% All India Quota (AIQ) and Deemed/Central University seats will allow registration until December 9, 2025, providing a crucial opportunity for aspirants who did not secure a seat in the first round or are registering for the first time.

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), functioning under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, has released the revised schedule for the NEET-PG 2025 Round-2 Counselling. The registration window for this crucial phase of MD/MS/PG Diploma seat allotment open, providing eligible candidates a final chance to enter the first half of the centralized counselling process.

This updated schedule comes after the conclusion of the Round 1 reporting phase and necessary reconciliation of vacant seats, which included minor adjustments to the seat matrix, adding new seats in deemed universities and removing some DNB seats. All candidates must adhere strictly to the new timelines published on the official website, mcc.nic.in.

I. Critical Timelines for Round 2 Counselling

The Round 2 schedule is compressed, and aspirants are advised to complete their registration and choice filling well before the final cut-off time to avoid technical issues.

II.Eligibility and Application Protocols

The registration process in Round 2 is specific and caters to multiple categories of candidates. Strict adherence to the registration rules is mandatory.

  • Fresh Registration: Candidates who did not register in Round 1 are eligible to register and pay the requisite fee now.
  • No Re-registration Required: Candidates who successfully registered in Round 1 but were not allotted a seat or were allotted a seat but exited with forfeiture are NOT required to register again. They can directly proceed to choice filling.
  • Choice Filling Mandate: All participating candidates, including those from Round 1, must submit fresh choices for Round 2. Choices submitted in Round 1 will be considered null and void.
  • Reporting Status: Candidates who joined their allotted Round 1 college and did not resign are ineligible to participate in Round 2. Their seats are confirmed.

Crucial Note: New candidates must complete the registration and non-refundable/refundable fee payment by 3:00 PM on December 9. The choice locking facility will only be available on the final day, December 9, from 4:00 PM onwards.

III.Strategic Importance of Round 2

Round 2 is a crucial stage that determines the fate of the maximum number of seats, as many candidates upgrade or surrender their seats from Round 1.

  • Upgradation Opportunity: Candidates who accepted a seat in Round 1 and reported to the college with a willingness for upgradation are automatically considered for Round 2 seat allotment based on their fresh choices.
  • Seat Matrix Changes: Aspirants must meticulously review the updated seat matrix released by the MCC before choice filling. This round includes seats forfeited from Round 1 and any newly added seats in the Deemed Universities and Central Institutions.
  • Consequence of Allotment: Unlike Round 1, if a candidate is allotted a seat in Round 2, they MUST report and join the allotted institute. Failure to report after a Round 2 allotment will result in the forfeiture of the security deposit and disqualification from all subsequent counselling rounds (Round 3/Mop-Up and Stray Vacancy).

All eligible candidates, especially those seeking fresh admission or upgradation, are advised to visit the official MCC website, mcc.nic.in, immediately to review the revised schedule and the updated seat matrix. Candidates must complete their registration and choice filling by the absolute deadline of December 9, 2025, to secure a seat in this highly competitive postgraduate counselling session.
