A palpable sense of anticipation grips thousands of medical post-graduate aspirants across India as they await the release of the NEET PG 2025 results, which are expected to be declared by July 15, 2025. This imminent result declaration will immediately be followed by the much-awaited announcement of the NEET PG 2025 counselling schedule by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). This online counselling process is the gateway to MD/MS and Diploma courses across various government and private medical colleges, including 50% of the All India Quota (AIQ) seats, as well as 100% seats in Central and Deemed Universities. The counselling is tentatively expected to begin in the first week of August 2025.

The NEET PG 2025 examination, conducted on June 15, 2025, serves as the single eligibility cum ranking examination for admissions to various PG medical courses in the country. With the results just days away, or possibly even released today, aspirants must shift their focus entirely towards understanding and preparing for the multi-stage counselling process that will define their Higher Education journey in specialized medical fields.

Understanding the NEET PG Counselling Framework:

The NEET PG counselling is broadly divided into two main categories:

MCC Counselling (All India Quota - AIQ and Central/Deemed Universities): The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, conducts counselling for:

  • 50% All India Quota (AIQ) seats in Government medical colleges (excluding Jammu & Kashmir).
  • 100% seats in Deemed Universities.
  • 100% seats in Central Universities (like AMU, BHU, DU, AFMC, and JIPMER).
  • 100% seats in ESIC Colleges.

All India Open DNB (Diplomate of National Board) seats. This counselling involves four rounds: Round 1, Round 2, Mop-Up Round, and Stray Vacancy Round.

State Quota Counselling: The remaining 50% of seats in Government medical colleges and 100% of seats in private medical colleges (excluding Deemed Universities) are filled through counselling conducted by the respective State Counselling Authorities. State counselling schedules often run parallel to or immediately after the MCC rounds.

Anticipated Steps in MCC NEET PG Counselling:

While the official detailed schedule is pending, the general flow of the MCC NEET PG counselling process is well-established:

Online Registration: Candidates must register on the MCC's official website (mcc.nic.in). This involves providing personal details, NEET PG roll number, creating a password, and paying a non-refundable registration fee (e.g., ₹1,000 for AIQ/Central University UR candidates, ₹500 for reserved; higher for Deemed Universities, like ₹5,000 for all categories) and a refundable security deposit (e.g., ₹25,000 for AIQ, ₹2,00,000 for Deemed Universities).

Choice Filling and Locking: After registration, candidates can fill in their preferred colleges and courses in order of priority. Thorough research into institutions, specialties, and previous year's cutoffs is crucial. Candidates must lock their choices by the specified deadline; otherwise, the last saved choices will be auto-locked.

Seat Allotment Processing: The system processes allotments based on NEET PG rank, filled choices, and applicable reservation criteria.

Seat Allotment Result Publication: Provisional seat allotment results are published online. Candidates can download their allotment letters.

Reporting to Allotted College / Option for Upgradation: Upon allotment, candidates have options:

  • Accept (Freeze): Satisfied with the seat, confirm admission, exit counselling.
  • Accept (Float): Accept the seat but opt for upgrade in subsequent rounds.
  • Free Exit: (Usually in Round 1) If not satisfied, can leave without penalty but lose seat.
  • Resign/Withdraw: (After reporting) If a candidate decides to exit after physically reporting to the allotted institute, they can resign/withdraw as per MCC rules, usually with forfeiture of security deposit. Candidates must complete online reporting (including fee payment) and then physically report to the allotted college for document verification and admission completion.

Important Dates (Tentative, subject to MCC Notification):

  • NEET PG 2025 Result Declaration: By July 15, 2025 (or possibly today, July 12).
  • MCC NEET PG 2025 Counselling Registration Start: Expected first week of August 2025 (around July 31).
  • Choice Filling and Locking: Follows registration.
  • Round 1 Seat Allotment Result: Mid-August 2025.
  • Reporting to Colleges (Round 1): Mid-August 2025.
  • Subsequent Rounds (R2, Mop-Up, Stray Vacancy): Extend into September-October 2025.

Documents Essential for NEET PG Counselling:

Medical PG aspirants must have all the following documents ready in original, along with multiple sets of attested photocopies:

  • NEET PG 2025 Admit Card
  • NEET PG 2025 Score Card/Rank Letter
  • MBBS Mark Sheets (all professional exams)
