MICAT 2 (2026) registration window opens; applications accepted till 29 January 2026

The Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad (MICA), has activated the registration window for MICAT 2026 Phase-2, offering candidates a crucial second opportunity to apply for its flagship PGDM programs. The application deadline is set for January 29, 2026, with the entrance examination scheduled for February 13, 2026. MICA’s policy of considering the "better of the two scores" (Phase 1 or Phase 2) makes this second phase vital for all serious aspirants.

The Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad (MICA), has officially commenced the registration process for the second phase of its entrance examination, MICAT 2026 Phase-2. This window is open for candidates who either missed the first phase (held on December 6, 2025) or those who wish to attempt the exam again to improve their scores.

The MICAT is a mandatory qualifier for MICA's prestigious two-year, full-time PGDM-C (Post Graduate Diploma in Management - Communications) and PGDM (Post Graduate Diploma in Management) programs. The registration portal, mica.ac.in, will accept applications until the end of January, providing ample time for aspirants to finalize their submission.

I. MICAT Phase 2 Official Schedule

This phase is the final opportunity for candidates to secure their MICAT score before the final shortlisting process for the Group Exercise (GE) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds begins.

II. The 'Better of Two Scores' Advantage

MICA's policy of conducting the exam in two phases is designed to maximize a candidate's potential by allowing them to use their higher performance score.

• Policy Detail: MICA considers the higher of the two normalized scores secured by a candidate in MICAT Phase 1 (December 2025) and MICAT Phase 2 (February 2026) for preparing the final shortlist.
• Mandatory Pre-requisite: Candidates must possess a valid score from CAT 2025, XAT 2026, or GMAT (2024 onwards), as MICAT scores are used in conjunction with one of these national-level entrance tests. The test score and MICAT score hold significant weight in the final selection composite score.
  • Weightage Breakdown (Tentative): MICAT score typically carries 25% weightage, and the CAT/XAT/GMAT score carries 35% in the shortlisting formula (which also includes academic profile and diversity).
• The Second Chance: Candidates who feel they underperformed in the unique sections of MICAT Phase 1 (Psychometric, Descriptive Test, and Divergent-Convergent Thinking) have a golden opportunity to rectify their performance in this second attempt.

III. Focus Areas for Phase 2 Preparation

The MICAT exam evaluates skills essential for communication and marketing management, differentiating it from traditional MBA tests.

• Section A: Psychometric Test (PT): This is a qualifying section. Candidates who fail the PT are immediately disqualified. The focus should be on answering truthfully and consistently.
• Section B: Descriptive Test (DT): This section, which assesses creative writing and original thought, holds significant weight. Aspirants must practice writing cohesive, structured arguments and essays on abstract or contemporary topics within the time limit.
• Section C: Aptitude Sections: This part includes Verbal Ability, Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation, General Awareness, and the signature Divergent and Convergent Thinking (DCT) section. The DCT section, which tests creative problem-solving and word association, requires specialized preparation.

Candidates are strongly advised to apply before the January 29, 2026 deadline, particularly if they are relying on their XAT 2026 score (which is held in early January) and want to give the MICAT for the first or second time.
