The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced important dates for the NEET UG Round 2 counselling for 2024. The registration and choice filing process will conclude on September 16, 2024, with seat allotment results to be released on September 19, 2024.

Key Details

  • Total MBBS Seats Added: This year, a total of 225 MBBS seats have been added to the existing pool, which includes 13 seats under the All India Quota open seat quota. This increase is significant as it provides more opportunities for aspiring medical students across the country.
  • Reporting Dates: Candidates who are allotted seats will need to report to their respective colleges from September 20, 2024, to September 27, 2024. This period is crucial for students to complete their admission processes and secure their places in medical colleges.

Importance of the Counselling Process

The MCC conducts the counselling process for NEET UG to allocate seats in various government and private medical colleges across India. The counselling is divided into two categories: All India Quota (AIQ) and State Quota. The AIQ comprises 15% of the total seats in government medical colleges, while the remaining 85% are allocated through state-level counselling.

This year's increase in MBBS seats reflects ongoing efforts to enhance medical education capacity in India, addressing the growing demand for healthcare professionals. As students prepare for this crucial phase, it is essential for them to stay updated on all timelines and requirements to ensure a smooth admission process.
