The application process for the Lovely Professional University National Entrance and Scholarship Test (LPU NEST) 2026 for admission into its diverse Engineering programs is expected to begin shortly. The release of the Phase 1 application form is a critical event for all aspirants, as the test serves a dual purpose: it is mandatory for admission into many B.Tech. specializations and is the primary gateway to securing the university's substantial merit-based scholarships. Students who apply and perform well in the initial phases are often eligible for the highest scholarship brackets.

Tentative Timeline for Phase 1 Registration and Exam

Aspirants should prepare for the registration window to open, as the application dates for the 2026 academic session are expected to be announced on the official LPU admissions portal, lpu.in/nest. Based on previous years' trends and recent updates, here is the tentative schedule for the initial phase:

LPU NEST Phase 1 EventsTentative Dates (Engineering)
Online Registration StartsOctober 2025 (Mid-to-Late)
Last Date to Apply and Book SlotJanuary 2026 (Mid-January)
Slot Booking StartsDecember 2025 (Early December)
Dates of Entrance ExaminationJanuary to February 2026
Result DeclarationWithin 24 to 72 Working Hours of the exam

It is strongly advised for aspirants to complete their registration as soon as the link is live and proceed with Slot Booking promptly, as preferred dates and exam centres (or remotely proctored slots) tend to fill up quickly.

Application and Examination Details

The LPU NEST application can be completed via Online Mode. The process involves a few straightforward steps on the LPUADMIT portal:

  1. Registration/Sign Up: Creating an account with basic personal details.
  2. Payment: Paying the application fee, which includes the cost of the LPUNEST Kit (Soft copy is typically ₹1000 for both boys and girls).
  3. Form Filling: Submitting general and academic information, including uploading required documents.
  4. Slot Booking: This crucial step allows candidates to choose their desired date, time, and mode of examination.

The test is conducted as a Computer-Based Test (CBT), with two options for the mode of appearing: at a Test Centre or via an Online Remotely Proctored Exam from home (which requires a laptop/desktop and a smartphone for live invigilation).

Exam Pattern Snapshot:

The B.Tech. exam paper lasts 150 minutes (2 hours 30 minutes) and consists of 125 objective-type questions for a total of 500 marks. The subjects covered include Physics, Chemistry, English, and a choice between Mathematics or Biology. Critically, there is no negative marking for incorrect answers, encouraging students to attempt all questions.

Aspirants must ensure they meet the minimum eligibility criteria, which is typically a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (or Biology/Biotechnology for specific specializations) as core subjects.
