National Testing Agency (NTA) is actively processing applications for the JEE Main 2026 Session 2.Eligible candidates who passed Class 12 in 2024 or 2025, or are appearing in 2026, must complete their registration by February 25.The April session is scheduled between April 2 and April 9, 2026, across various shifts for B.E./B.Tech and B.Arch papers. Aspirants are advised to finalize their fee payments and document uploads early to avoid the anticipated last-minute rush during the board exam season. The National Testing Agency (NTA) is currently facilitating the registration process for the second session of the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2026. Following the commencement of the application window on February 1, thousands of engineering and architecture aspirants have already accessed the portal to secure their slots for the April attempt. As of today, February 7, the NTA has reiterated that the final deadline for the JEE Main Session 2 application remains fixed for February 25, 2026 (up to 9:00 PM IST).

Essential Registration Procedures

For candidates aiming to appear in the April session, the registration pathway depends on their previous participation in the January attempt. The official JEE Main website serves as the exclusive platform for all submissions.

  • Existing Candidates: Those who appeared for Session 1 in January can log in using their original application number and password. These students are not required to fill in basic personal details again but must select their preferred paper (B.E./B.Tech, B.Arch, or B.Planning), exam medium, and city choices before completing the online fee submission.
  • Fresh Applicants: Candidates who did not apply for the first session must undergo a full registration process. This includes generating a new application ID via Aadhaar-based authentication, uploading scanned copies of photographs and signatures, and providing academic details.
  • Warning Against Multiplicity: The NTA has strictly cautioned that a candidate should not submit more than one application. Any individual found with multiple application numbers will be treated under the "Unfair Means" (UFM) category, which may lead to disqualification.

Key Deadlines and Examination Timeline

With the February 25 cutoff approaching, aspirants must balance their JEE Main Session 2 application with their ongoing board examination preparations. The NTA has confirmed that there will be no extension to the registration timeline to maintain the integrity of the April 2026 exam schedule.

Event DescriptionKey Date (2026)
Registration Closing DateFebruary 25 (9:00 PM)
Final Date for Fee PaymentFebruary 25 (11:50 PM)
Correction Window (Tentative)Last week of February
City Intimation Slip ReleaseSecond week of March
Examination PeriodApril 2 to April 9

The NTA examination portal will host the city intimation slips and admit cards in the weeks leading up to the test. Candidates are advised to monitor the official NTA archives for notifications regarding the correction window, where specific fields in the application form can be edited post-submission.

Financial and Technical Requirements

The online fee submission varies by category and gender. General male candidates are required to pay ₹1000, while General-EWS/OBC-NCL candidates pay ₹900. Female candidates across these categories pay ₹800, and SC/ST/PwD/Transgender candidates pay ₹500. All payments must be processed via Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card, or UPI before the midnight deadline on February 25.

To ensure a smooth JEE Main Session 2 application, candidates should verify that their photograph matches the Aadhaar-based live capture requirements recently introduced by the NTA. Any mismatch between the uploaded photo and the Aadhaar record may cause delays in the generation of admit cards.

Conclusion

As the February 7 dateline passes, the window for the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2026 Session 2 is rapidly closing. Prospective students must prioritize their online fee submission and ensure that all uploaded documents meet the NTA’s specific technical criteria. Completing the JEE Main Session 2 application before the February 25 deadline is essential for those looking to improve their NTA scores or gain their first entry into the national-level engineering admissions process for the upcoming academic year.
