JEE Advanced 2025 Eligibility Criteria Released: Attempt Limit, Age and 75% Rule
Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2025 has released the detailed eligibility criteria; as always, it has served upcoming engineers with some changes and general rules.

The officials of Indian Institute of Technology, IIT have officially declared the eligibility for writing the JEE Advanced 2025 examination. The exam regulates the attempt limits, age limit, minimum marks in JEE Main 2025, class 12 percentage for candidates who want to be admitted to IITs. This notification is therefore very important for any candidate who may wish to apply in order that they may be informed whether or not they are eligible to participate in the process.
Eligibility Highlights
- Number of Attempts
A candidate is permitted to extend up to two successive years to take the JEE Advanced examination. A candidate who writes the exam in 2024 can attempt at JEE Advanced 2025.
- Age Limit
It was proposed that applicants should have been born after the October 1 2000 in case of the junior team. Scheduled castes/tribes and persons with a disability can apply till 5 years younger, that is, if they are born after October 1, 1995.
- JEE Main 2025 Performance
Candidates have to be in the top 2,50,000 qualified students list of JEE Main 2025, across the categories. This includes reservation for:
- General: 40.5%
- EWS: 10%
- OBC-NCL: 27%
- C: 15%
- ST: 7.5%
- PwD: Horizontal cum within each category, the percentage reservation of 5%.
- Minimum of a Class 12 (or Equivalent) qualification.
A candidate is not supposed to have passed his or her class 12 or equivalent examination after the year 2024 or before 2025. Candidates who wrote class 12 in 2023 and failed are prohibited from applying.
- 75% Criteria
The cutoff for the General and OBC-NCL category students is 75% marks in class 12 board examination or be within the first twenty percentile of the respective board of examination. The candidate must secure at least 65% percentage in the relevant categories of SC/ ST/PwD candidates.
Other Important Restrictions
IIT aspirants who had been admitted for previous courses are disqualified
Exceptions for:
- New Student IIT preparatory course in the year 2024
- That includes all the candidates who withdrew before final seat allotment
- There those whose seats were cancelled in the final round

Application Process
Soon after the announcement of JEE Main 2025 results, the online registrations for the JEE Advanced 2025 will begin. Any two people interested in becoming a couple must be cleared to apply.
