The GUJCET 2026 registration deadline has been extended to January 6, 2026. Eligible Science stream students must apply online at gujcet.gseb.org by today.

The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSEB) is officially concluding the extended registration phase for the Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GUJCET 2026) this week. Originally slated to close in late December, the board provided a critical one-week extension that officially brings the application window to a close. As of today, the portal is experiencing high traffic as thousands of Class 12 Science students rush to finalize their submissions for the state-level entrance examination.

Final Deadline and Application Procedures

The board has clarified that the extended window up to January 6 and early January 7 serves as the absolute final opportunity for students to register without incurring heavy late fees. Applicants must complete a multi-step digital process, beginning with account creation using a unique mobile number and email ID. The university has emphasized that applications will only be considered valid if the fee payment is successfully reconciled before the portal locks.

  • Official Portals: Candidates must use either gseb.org or the dedicated gujcet.gseb.org for all registration activities.
  • Payment Deadline: Online payments via SBI ePay (Credit/Debit cards or Net Banking) must be completed by the closing bell today.
  • Document Specifications: Scanned photographs and signatures must be between 5KB and 50KB in .jpg format to be accepted by the system.
  • Data Accuracy: Candidates are urged to double-check their Group selection (A, B, or AB) as this determines the subjects appearing on their final scorecard.

The GUJCET 2026 is a mandatory requirement for students seeking admission to degree engineering and pharmacy programs across Gujarat. The examination is traditionally a pen-and-paper-based test consisting of multiple-choice questions. With the registration window closing, the GSEB is now shifting focus toward the logistical preparation for the test centers located across 34 districts.

Percentile-based

  • Subject Weightage: The exam features 40 questions each for Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology, totaling 120 marks.
  • Marking Scheme: Every correct response earns 1 mark, while a negative marking of 0.25 is applied for every incorrect answer on the scorecard.
  • Eligibility: Candidates must have secured a minimum of 45% (40% for reserved categories) in their HSC Science board exams.

Post-Registration: Correction and Admit Card Phase

Following the closure of the registration window, the GSEB is expected to open a brief correction window for candidates to rectify clerical errors in their personal details. This phase is crucial for ensuring that the information printed on the admit card and the subsequent scorecard is accurate for the counseling process conducted by the Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC).

  • Correction Limits: Students can typically edit their name, date of birth, and category, but changes to the registered mobile number are generally not permitted.
  • Admit Card Importance: The admit card will be released 10-15 days prior to the March 29 exam date and is a mandatory document for entrance into the hall.
  • Counseling Readiness: The final percentile obtained in GUJCET will be combined with Class 12 board marks in a 40:60 or 50:50 ratio (as per the latest state policy) for final admission rankings.

Conclusion

As the GUJCET 2026 extended registration window nears its final closure, the urgency for eligible aspirants to submit their forms cannot be overstated. With over 90,000 engineering seats and 11,000 pharmacy seats at stake across the state, this entrance test remains the primary gateway for professional education in Gujarat. Applicants who miss this deadline may face significant hurdles in the admission cycle or be required to pay substantial late fees. Once the portal closes, the focus for the student community will transition entirely toward the intensive revision required to secure a high percentile in the upcoming March examination.
