The admit card is a mandatory document for entry, requiring physical verification along with a valid photo identity proof at the examination center. The 2026 cycle concludes this weekend, following which the focus will shift toward the release of the provisional answer keys later this month.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, the organizing institute for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026, has confirmed that the admit card download facility remains fully operational today, February 13, 2026. As the national-level examination enters its final weekend of testing, thousands of engineering and science graduates are currently accessing the GOAPS portal to finalize their documentation. This final stretch of the GATE 2026 cycle covers several core and interdisciplinary branches, with the last papers scheduled for tomorrow, February 14, and Sunday, February 15. Candidates are urged to visit the official GATE 2026 portal to secure their credentials before the server rush begins.

Schedule and Preparation for the Final Testing Weekend

With the first two days of testing successfully completed on February 7 and 8, the IIT machinery is now geared toward the remaining 30 test papers. The admit card is the only valid document that confirms a candidate's specific shift and venue details for this decisive weekend.

  • Remaining Paper Slots: Tomorrow, February 14, will feature major papers including Civil Engineering (CE-1 and CE-2), Electrical Engineering (EE), and Mechanical Engineering (ME). The final day, February 15, will conclude with Electronics & Communication (EC) and Data Science & Artificial Intelligence (DA).
  • Download Protocol: Candidates must log in to the GOAPS application system using their enrollment ID or registered email address. The admit card must be printed on A4-size paper, ensuring that the photograph and signature are clearly visible.
  • Biometric Mandatory: Upon arrival at the center, the data printed on the admit card will be matched with the candidate's live biometric thumbprint and iris scan. This high-security measure is a staple of the IIT Guwahati examination guidelines.
  • Virtual Calculator Access: Since physical calculators are strictly prohibited, the admit card instructions remind candidates that a virtual scientific calculator will be provided on the computer-based test (CBT) interface.

Critical Compliance and Post-Examination Roadmap

The IIT Guwahati helpdesk has reiterated that any discrepancy on the admit card should have been reported immediately. As we are now less than 24 hours from the penultimate day of testing, candidates must ensure they have a valid original photo ID ready to accompany their printed hall ticket.

  • Valid Identity Proofs: Only original documents like Aadhaar Card, Passport, Voter ID, or Driving License are accepted. Digital versions on mobile phones are not permitted at the GATE security checkpoints.
  • Entry Deadlines: The forenoon shift begins at 9:30 AM, while the afternoon session starts at 2:30 PM. Candidates are advised to reach the venue 90 minutes early to complete the mandatory verification processes.
  • Provisional Answer Keys: Following the conclusion of the GATE exams on February 15, the GOAPS portal is expected to release the provisional answer keys and candidate response sheets by February 21, 2026.
  • Result Declaration: The official results for the 2026 session are scheduled for release on March 19, 2026, which will officially determine the eligibility for PSU recruitment and M.Tech admissions.

Conclusion

The availability of the admit card today is the final administrative safety net for students appearing in the concluding sessions of GATE 2026. As IIT Guwahati prepares to host the final thousands of aspirants this weekend, the focus remains on maintaining the highest standards of competitive integrity through the GOAPS system. The transition from the examination phase to the result phase will begin immediately after the final shift on Sunday. Candidates are encouraged to preserve their hall tickets even after the exam, as they are required during the COAP and CCMT counselling processes.
