The CAT 2024 Answer Key challenge facility will cease today, which is the final chance for candidates to challenge the Common Admission Test answer key released by IIMs in the week gone by.

The official answer key of Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024 and the decision to challenge it is legally managed by the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, where today will be the last day for the aspiring candidates to report their objections. This last stage enables the candidates to challenge any of the answers given in that answer key which was released on December 3, 2024.

Main facts about the process of passing the challenge

  • Challenge Window: This objection management window is available at 6:00 PM EST, December 3, 2020 and closes at 11:55 PM EST, December 5, 2024. The candidates, therefore, need to be very sensitive to this issue, file their objections within this period.
  • Objection Fee: At this stage, candidates need to pay a fee of INR 1200 per question for which they want to object. This fee is non-refundable and it serves to discourage spurious objections most likely to arise from unscrupulous contestants.

How to Raise an Objection:

Click on the link you generated by visiting the official CAT website at iimcat.ac.in.

  • Visit the Official Website: Go to the official link for CAT 2024.
  • Log In: Click on the login button to start and use your registered credentials when opening the profile.
  • Access Response Sheet: After completing all the questions in the test paper, download your response sheet and check it with the provisional answer key given.
  • Select the Question: It will help you know which area or question you want to raise skepticism.
  • Submit Objection: Complete the objection form to describe what exactly irregularity you have found and the proofs for such statement.
  • Pay the Fee: Pay the necessary fee for every objection filed. The fee will be waived if the challenge is proved valid.

Importance of the Answer Key

Provisional answer key for the candidates is one of the most important documents since it provides a detailed summary of the answers which can be helpful to know one’s performance until the official results are declared in January, 2025. In addition to the answer keys, IIM Calcutta has released the response sheets on November 29 so the candidates will be able to match their answers with the official ones.

Exam Overview

CAT 2024 was held only on 24th November, 2024, in 389 test centers in 170 cities, and only 282569 candidates participated for the test out of about 329634 registered candidates, thus the attendance percentage worked out to be 88.58 percent only. The exam consisted of 68 questions, divided into three sections: There are 3 sections that the student has to write: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR) and Quantitative Ability (QA).

Conclusion

After considering all the objections which may be made during this challenge window, IIM Calcutta will come up with the final answer key. Successful performers of this examination are placed for the admission into one or the other programs in the known Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs). Any candidate therefore should be sure that he/she has lodged his/her objection before today so as to have a chance to argue over the answers that have been disqualified in this often rigorous competitive examination scenario.
