In a crucial update for postgraduate medical aspirants, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has officially announced an open round of counselling to fill vacant seats for its M.Sc Nursing, M.Sc, and M Biotechnology courses for the academic year 2025. This offline counselling session is scheduled to be held on September 3, 2025, at the JL Auditorium, AIIMS New Delhi.
The open counselling is a final opportunity for eligible candidates to secure a seat, with a total of 82 seats available across 15 AIIMS institutions in the country. The provisional list of vacant seats includes openings for various categories, such as UR (Unreserved), OBC (Other Backward Class), SC (Scheduled Caste), ST (Scheduled Tribe), and EWS (Economically Weaker Section). Among the institutions, AIIMS Bhopal has the highest number of vacancies with 23 seats, followed by AIIMS New Delhi with 18 seats, and AIIMS Jodhpur and AIIMS Kalyani with 8 seats each.
Eligibility and Participation Guidelines
To participate in the offline open counselling, candidates must first complete an online registration process. The registration window, which began on August 28, will close on August 31, 2025.
On the day of the counselling, September 3, 2025, candidates are required to report at the JLN Auditorium by 8:30 AM with all their original documents for verification. A mandatory Demand Draft (DD) of Rs. 25,000 in favour of "AIIMS MAIN GRANT" is also required. This DD will be collected only from those candidates who are allotted a seat. It is important for aspirants to note that if they fail to join their allotted seat, they will face a penalty of Rs. 1 lakh, and their DD will be forfeited. The seat allocation will be based on the candidate’s rank in the entrance examination.
Important Details for Aspirants
AIIMS has also specified key details regarding the seat allocation process. Vacant seats from the OBC and EWS categories may be transferred to the UR category if suitable candidates are not available. Additionally, candidates must ensure their OBC and EWS certificates are valid and meet the specified criteria.
