IIT Bombay successfully conducted the UCEED 2026 exam on January 18, 2026. Candidates are now awaiting the draft answer key and response sheet, expected on January 20. This report covers the post-exam timeline, the objection window for Part A, and the subjective evaluation process for Part B as aspirants prepare for the March 6 results.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has successfully concluded the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) 2026. The national-level entrance test, held on January 18, saw a significant turnout of design aspirants across 27 cities. With the examination phase now behind them, candidates have shifted their focus to the official portal for the release of their response sheets and the provisional answer key, both of which are critical for estimating scores before the final results in March.

Post-Exam Timeline and Response Sheet Access

Following the completion of the three-hour test, IIT Bombay has initiated the administrative steps required for the evaluation of the objective section. The first major milestone in this phase is the publication of individual candidate records.

  • Draft Answer Key: The provisional answer key for Part A is scheduled for release today, January 20, 2026. This document allows students to verify the correct solutions for the NAT, MSQ, and MCQ sections.
  • Response Sheet: Simultaneously, the portal will activate the link for the candidate response sheet. This document contains the actual answers marked by the candidate during the computer-based test, enabling a direct comparison with the key.
  • Download Window: Aspirants must log in to the candidate portal using their registered email ID and password to access these files. It is important to note that the response sheet remains available only until the declaration of the final results.
  • Part A Importance: Since Part A acts as a qualifying filter, the accuracy of the answer key is vital; only those who clear the Part A cutoff will have their Part B drawing sheets evaluated.

Objection Window and Final Key Finalization

To maintain transparency and accuracy, the UCEED committee provides a dedicated window for candidates to challenge any discrepancies found in the draft solutions.

  • Submission Window: Candidates can upload their comments and objections regarding the draft answer key through the candidate portal starting today until January 22, 2026 (5:00 PM).
  • Evidence-Based Challenges: Any objection must be accompanied by valid supporting documentation. Challenges sent via email or post will not be considered by the authorities.
  • Final Key Release: After reviewing all legitimate concerns, the final answer key for Part A will be published on January 28, 2026. This version is binding and will be used for the final score calculation.
  • No Re-evaluation: As Part A is a computer-based assessment, there is no provision for re-totalling or re-evaluation after the final answer key is released.

Conclusion

The successful conduct of UCEED 2026 on January 18 marks the beginning of a rigorous evaluation phase for the next generation of designers. The current focus on the response sheet and the draft answer key is a vital part of the transparency protocols established by IIT Bombay. As candidates navigate the objection window over the next 48 hours, the university is simultaneously preparing for the manual evaluation of Part B for those who meet the Part A cutoff. This transition from testing to evaluation ensures that the final merit list, expected in early March, remains a fair reflection of design aptitude and creative skill. For thousands of aspirants, the coming week will provide the first concrete indication of their chances of securing a seat in the premier B.Des programs at the IITs.
