The SRM Joint Engineering Entrance Examination (SRMJEEE) is the mandatory test for securing admission into the Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) programs offered by the SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) across its various campuses. Engineering aspirants eagerly awaiting the official schedule for the 2026 academic session should note that the SRMJEEE 2026 notification is expected to be released soon on the official website. Based on the previous year's trends, the registration process is likely to begin in October or November 2025.
Multi-Phase Examination and Tentative Schedule
SRMIST typically conducts the SRMJEEE in multiple phases—usually two or three—to provide students with flexibility and more than one opportunity to qualify. This phased approach allows candidates to attempt the exam multiple times, with the best score being considered for admission and scholarship purposes. The tentative timeline for the major phases is as follows:
Event | Tentative Dates |
---|---|
SRMJEEE Registration starts | October - November 2025 |
SRMJEEE Phase 1 Exam | April 2026 (Expected) |
SRMJEEE Phase 2 Exam | June 2026 (Expected) |
SRMJEEE Phase 3 Exam | June 2026 (Expected) |
Eligibility Criteria and Application Process
To be eligible for the SRMJEEE 2026 B.Tech programs, students must have either passed or be appearing for their Class 12th examination with the required combination of subjects. Generally, candidates must have Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology as core subjects and secure a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in the qualifying exam. The minimum age to apply for the exam is 16 years.
The entire application process for SRMJEEE 2026 is conducted online only. Candidates must register on the official portal, fill out the application form with personal and academic details, and pay the non-refundable application fee (which was ₹1400 in the previous cycle and is expected to remain similar). Once the application is submitted, candidates must proceed with the slot booking process to choose their preferred examination date and time.
Exam Pattern and Mode
A significant feature of the SRMJEEE is its mode of examination. The test is conducted in the Remote Proctored Online Mode (RPOM), allowing candidates to appear for the exam from the comfort of their home using a personal laptop/desktop with a stable internet connection and a working webcam.
The SRMJEEE question paper is an objective-type test with a duration of 2 hours and 30 minutes. The paper contains a total of 130 questions, with each question carrying 1 mark, summing up to a total of 130 marks. The examination is divided into five sections:
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Mathematics/Biology (candidates attempt one based on their B.Tech. specialization preference)
- English
- Aptitude
Aspirants will be relieved to know that there is no negative marking for incorrect or unanswered questions, allowing them to attempt all questions with confidence. The syllabus is primarily based on the Class 11th and 12th curriculum.
