Release Inclusive SOPs: They have called for new guidelines that shift the assessment of disabilities from outdated percentage-based criteria to a functional competency-based test, as previously directed by the Supreme Court. This is aimed at preventing scenarios where candidates with conditions like dyslexia are subjected to assessments designed for children.
Expand Assessment Centres: With only 16 designated centres across 11 states, candidates from remote areas are forced to travel long distances for their medical assessments. The appeal calls for the establishment of at least one designated board in every state and union territory before counselling begins.
Training and Transparency: The group has also demanded that the NMC release the training schedule for the medical boards and publish the names of doctors with disabilities appointed to them, ensuring adherence to Supreme Court mandates.
